Last Saturday evening, I visited a Kerala restaurant in Leeds hoping to enjoy some authentic food. Unfortunately, most restaurants were fully booked and told us they couldn’t accommodate us without an appointment because it was extremely busy.
As a Malayali, I felt a little sad because I truly miss authentic Kerala food here. But at the same time, I felt proud seeing how our people have grown in the UK, successfully running restaurants and serving authentic Indian food that is loved not only by Indians but also by people from many other countries.
When I came to Kerala Restaurant, the staff kindly asked us to wait and managed to arrange a slot for us despite being very busy. Their effort and hospitality were truly appreciated.
The food was absolutely wonderful. Almost all the dishes were of excellent quality. The starter BDF was especially nice – juicy and perfectly authentic in taste. The flavors really reminded me of home.
In fact, the food was so delicious that I even bought parcels to enjoy for the next two days!
Overall, a fantastic experience with homely food, great quality, and warm service. Highly recommended for anyone craving real Kerala cuisine in Leeds.

What a discovery! For an Indian cuisine lover as me, this restaurant opened another door to the rich ethnic food Leeds scene. Food was great and well presented and the staff was courteous and attentive. We will definitely come back for more.

Kerala restaurant is my most favourite in Leeds. Definitely the BEST and most authentic Indian restaurant. Unlike most of the places that serve Indian cuisine which is overpriced and underwhelming, Kerala restaurant has got it all on point. The taste, price and service. Food is tasty but there is room for improvement. The seafood kizhi is superb, very flavourful and the fish especially was tender and delicious, I enjoyed dipping the Kerala parotta in that curry, it was excellent. The Chatti Choru was also enjoyable. The biriyani was disappointing and didn’t have much flavour.
The service is also quite bad. The waitress who seemed like she didn’t want to be there got our order wrong (gave us chicken biryani instead of special beef biryani) despite being the only ones in there service was slow and only gave us menus 10 mins later, food took quite long to arrive too.
It’s a shame because the food is good but the service just ruins the experience.
