I haven’t had a chance to spend time in town since I lived in Dallas more than 30 years ago, when I came to visit a friend during carnival season then. This time I’m here tracing the New Orleans side of my family so I was at the Cemetery district leaving stones on graves. I’ve been afraid to get some beignets and cafe au lait because the po’boys don’t taste the same unless you know where to go (I did not, insert very sad face, what have people done to the bread).

I couldn’t bear sub-par beignets and cafe au lait. These are exquisite, on both counts.

I literally cried. Tastes like history. Tastes like the home town of long gone loved ones. I’d be shocked if there is a better example of the purest form anywhere. Also, instead of coming with deadly piles of powdered sugar (COUGH, Cafe so and so, COUGH), they have shakers so you can dose it yourself.

If you’re nearby, you have to stop.

The service is exactly what you’d expect from New Orleans, quick, efficient, not too familiar, and literally dripping with charm.

I should have come in sooner. I hope I make it back this way again. My best to the entire crew here, you’re angels and skilled at your craft.

Great place for beignets near city park! We got a fresh batch and it was light, fluffy, and crispy. The muffulettas were great too, but I didn’t expected them to be 3 mini ones.

The interior is clean & staff were super nice! Love the decors. Will be back 🙂

Overall, everything was really good. The beignets were top-notch — fresh, hot, and exactly what you want. Chickery coffee was deep and tasty. We found out there two different beignets. This place is like a fried dough doughnut. Other places have a french bread consistency. Morning call was the right call.

My fiancé and I stopped by Morning Call Coffee Stand for breakfast and decided to try the beignets along with a croissant sandwich with egg, ham, and cheese.

From the outside, the location isn’t what you’d expect — it’s in a strip mall — but once you walk inside, that completely changes. The interior has a very French Quarter–style feel, a nice atmosphere, and the staff were friendly and welcoming.

Overall, everything was really good. The beignets were top-notch — fresh, hot, and exactly what you want. The only reason this isn’t a full five stars (and yes, it’s a bit petty) is the powdered sugar setup. They don’t put the sugar on for you, so you have to shake it yourself. The containers we had were damp around the rim, so the sugar wouldn’t come out cleanly and ended up everywhere. I was wearing a black shirt and my fiancé was in a black dress… we left covered in white powder.

I’m sure some people enjoy doing it themselves, but it was messy.

The croissant sandwich was okay — decent, but the beignets were clearly the highlight.

Overall, everything was very enjoyable, and we’re definitely planning to go back for lunch.

Cash only!

These are the best beignets in town! No joke. I talked to the manager and he said they use sourdough. The insides were full of pockets of beautiful bread. Outside was hot. They come out naked and you powder sugar them yourself. Hot chocolate is nothing special.

The service was lacking. Our server took a long time to take our order then did everything else but bring us our beignets. Several tables got piles of donuts before us. We finally had another server bring us some. Several tables sat with dishes and sugar everywhere and the servers were only half cleaning the tables. It wasn’t very busy.

BEST beignets ever. Piping hot, served in a small brown paper bag, shake em up, enjoy. The atmosphere was like going back in time. The uniforms, hats and customer service is nostalgic. No registers either. You tell them the order, they know the amount, you hand them cash, and they make change from their pockets. Very fast and fluid, just like it used to be. The beignets were hot, crunchy on the outside, and very soft inside. Loved this place.

Enjoyed the coffee latte – nice medium roast without the bitterness. Beignets were freshly made and not covered with powdered sugar (it was available at the table as a shaker). I liked them this way much better than the way cafe lemond serves them.
Clean and spacious, good bathrooms

Hands down the best beignets in the City! Always fresh. Always hot! Great cafe au Lait! As a native & local, we prefer MC a million times over Cafe Du Monde!

It is a trek out from downtown but so easy on the streetcar. Beautiful trip. If you get beignets to go they are LOADED with powdered sugar. Light and airy pastry.
