I visited three times during my eight-day trip to Italy. After more than 50 days in Europe, I was craving Asian food, so I was happy to find a delicious pho restaurant. It was also great for casual solo dining. (It still remains a strange experience to have to step on the pedal under the bathroom sink to get the water to come out. )

%100 AUTHENTIC Northern Vietnamese Phở.

I have been a regular customer here for 3 years now, and never in these 3 years I saw someone non-Vietnamese working here. Not that it matters but seeing someone claiming this is a Chinese place????? If you are used to the mainstream Southern style Phở -which is common in America, you will not get that experience in a NORTHERN place. Duh. There’s no shame in admitting ignorance but accusing a small business of inauthenticity when you are the ignorant one is very disgraceful behavior.

For those who don’t know; Southern style Phở is served with Hoisin sauce, Thai basil, bean sprouts. It’s much sweeter. Northern style Phở on the other hand is NOT sweet, it’s hearthy, lighter and simpler. It’s close to the way Phở first originated in Vietnam, enjoyed with lime and garlic vinegar (there is also Sriracha). You can taste the delicious broth and meat very clearly. The broth is the star, it has so much flavor.

To be honest, it took me a few visits to get used to the non-sweetness. Because I was also used to the Southern style Pho, which is also beautiful but different. Actually you don’t even have to get used to it, this place has many incredibly delicious meals you can choose from, other than Phở. The shrimp peanut noodle is otherworldly. The summer and spring rolls are always fresh and loaded. We tried every single dish in the menu over this 3 yearsand it does not disappoint. You cannot find this level of quality for noodles and ingredients in most other Asian restaurants in Rome.

I felt the need to write this since this place has a special place in my heart with its warm environment, kind and genuine workers and delicious meals. Also the prices are very very affordable and haven’t changed since the first time I was here.

10/10 experience.

Definitely true Northern-style Vietnamese pho — clean, less greasy, and more subtle in flavour compared to the Southern version… and honestly I prefer it this way.
A bit of noodles left only because I was too full (and this was the small ).

Crazy busy during lunch time, but the staff remained friendly and fast.

Friendly, fresh, fast service. Be sure to try the house-made spicy pickled garlic that’s at the table. I ordered the mango salad and small beef phò bowl.

We came here everyday, after a long day of exploring. Even though we came here everyday, we didn’t get tired of the food. We highly recommend number 3, 7 and the spring rolls. Ms.Ezra is super nice and accommodating, she makes the service here great.

I have been touring for many days and ready for Vietnamese Pho. Found this this place thru Google maps. The Pho tastes strange to me. It has no pho flavor. There is no herbs (basil, etc). There is shredded fried eggs and fresh shredded ginger on top of my Pho. The spring roll have no herbs. It too have fried shredded eggs and the the shredded lettuce tasted spoiled. I was starving after the long morning in line to attend the Pope Mass at the Vatican Square, but can’t bring myself to finish my food. The place also seems to run by Chinese rather than Vietnamese so maybe that is why the flavor is a bit of a twist compare to what I am used to.

Food is not authentic. This place won’t even provide bean sprouts and Thai basil. The broth is for sure some instant bouillon with a lot MSG, which makes your mouth dry. Considering the price is ok, the place is acceptable for a quick bite.

Was craving hot vietnamese food / soup really badly after having so much pasta on our trip so we found Pho 1. It was very good!! Hit the spot. They don’t give Sriracha and Hoisin sauce on the side like we are used to having in America. but it was good!!!

Clean restaurant friendly staff.
