I didn’t like Teriyaki Madness. The food was so-so, the wait was long, and it wasn’t very clean. The pasta was veggie-less and tasted just like yesterday’s. It’s better to go to Panda Express—it’s much tastier and fresher.

Worst dining experience in 50 years of my life!!! After we placed an order for 3 meals, we sat down and waited, and waited, and waited. After 40 minutes of waiting and seeing others who came after us get their food and finish eating, I asked where our meals are and was told 5 minutes. 10 minutes later, I ask again and was told that they are making noodles. We were starving and I asked for a refund so we could go somewhere else. Maria came out to refund and couldn’t provide proof of the refund because “printer wasn’t working”, even though we just had our receipt printed on it. When I looked at the screen of the canceled order, the name was not mine. They were giving me excuses, but when I pressed for details, we found it that they canceled some other chapter order that was not mine. It took another 5 minutes to find the correct order and, as they said, cancel it without proof. I still don’t know if it was canceled and will find it tomorrow. Employees, especially Maria, are arrogant, careless and very unprofessional. We went to Roti next door and had delicious food in 5 minutes. Never ever will I be coming back to this disgusting place!!!

Updated Review – Teriyaki Madness (Vernon Hills)

Teriyaki Madness is a great local spot in Vernon Hills for healthier fast-casual options. I personally prefer their rice and bowls over places like Panda Express, and their containers are much better for leftovers—far nicer than the typical Styrofoam you get elsewhere.

My only critique is that the staff could benefit from some additional training on their point-of-sale system. For example, they weren’t able to split payments between cash and card, and on one occasion they didn’t know how to sell a gift card that was being advertised in the store. I don’t blame the staff directly—I’m not sure if this is a system limitation or a training gap—but it’s something that, if improved, could easily make this location a 5-out-of-5.

That said, when I was able to get in touch with the owner regarding an issue, they were very reasonable and accommodating, which I really appreciated. I hope this feedback is taken to heart and that a bit more investment is made in POS training so larger or mixed-payment orders (like $20 cash plus card) and gift card purchases can be handled smoothly.

Overall, you really can’t beat this place. The teriyaki with fried rice is a top pick in the Vernon Hills area for my friends and family, and I’ll continue coming back.

I’ve been twice now, the food is great, enjoyed the steak with spicy sauce, fresh veggies. The spicy sauce is worth the extra charge. The first time I was helped promptly by a pleasant lady who also gave good suggestions. Second time was not so good, had to wait to be helped even though their guy was right there, he was rushing to finish, I had to tell him I wanted a drink with my order, and when he brought my order the napkin was stained with sauce. I’d probably still go again, just look for a different assistant or skip if it’s the same guy.

This was our first time visiting this restaurant. At the time, there was only one other customer dining at a table, yet we waited approximately 15 minutes for our food. With only us and one other customer present, this wait felt unusually long.

I ordered the steak teriyaki, and my daughter ordered the orange chicken. Unfortunately, the steak was like rubber — very tough and unpleasant in texture — and it was not served hot, as it was already cooling by the time it reached the table. The orange chicken was just alright, which was also very disappointing.

Overall, we were quite disappointed with the experience. The quality of the food and the length of the wait did not meet our expectations, and we do not feel the visit was worth the time spent. If it were possible, we would rate this experience zero stars.

Wow! Just WOW. The food was delicious had the spicy orange chicken bowl with fried rice and veggies. At first bite of the orange chicken I was struck with huge flavor and it was through every bite. The establish was very clean and nice. After eating the orange chicken I for sure want to come back and try out the rest of the menu great experience !

My first experience ever at a Teriyaki Madness was at the Gurnee location this past early December and I’m so glad to have tried it. TM has grown on me big time, I looove this place!

Roughly 3 weeks later that month, my family & I were in Vernon Hills and my wife was asking what the dinner plans were. I knew Mellody Farm boasts an extensive array of great eats so TM sounded downright mouthwatering.

I figured we haven’t tried the VH location yet and my stepdaughter who hasn’t tried TM yet was back from college for Christmas break so it was good timing.

It’s amazing what you can do with a short menu and convert it into an expanding sensation. Not sure about the slightly lower ratings at this location compared to the Gurnee location but the value of the food, cleanliness of the venue and service are all consistently good.

Easily at least a couple of times a month I gotta get my fill of the madness and this place will always hit the spot. I hope for continued booming business for the owner(s) for decades to come.

I ordered take out from here while being in the area for a work trip. I had never heard of Teriyaki Madness before so figured I’d try it. I ordered the teriyaki steak and was disappointed when I started eating my food. The meat seemed rubbery and super fatty / grizzly. I think I will stick with Panda Express next time.

Service was super friendly and efficient. Restaurant was very clean and well lit. Wait time for food was a bit long for “fast food” but quality is better than typical.
