There was a lot of staff bustling around and we had coffee right away- even before seeing our server. My cup was never less than 1/4 full and the coffee was so good!!!
Questions about the Swedish pancakes were answered by a polite young man, and an order was finalized when the server came. I asked the server about the “Homemade corned beef hash” was it really homemade? She said the cook makes a brisket and chops it up with potatoes, onions, and peppers. GREAT! I can not stand the canned stuff, but love a good corned beef hash.
The food arrived and I instantly could tell that this was TRULY homemade corned beef hash. Nice chunks of corned beef, potatoes, and peppers and onions. The hash was well seasoned and delicious! I also ordered the Swedish pancakes, plain, no fruit, and the server stated that she had put in the order wrong and they had been made with strawberries. I said that wasn’t a problem- I would take them anyway. Server stated that new ones were being made, but she could put those in a box to take home. YEA!!!!!
The Swedish pancakes had such a wonderful flavor and texture- literally the best I have ever had! The berries made it even better and I would suggest adding those in the future!
My husband had Family Pancake House (FPH Breakfast) and thoroughly enjoyed it and said it was very, very good. Everything was prepared with care and attention to detail, and tasted better than expected. The bacon was a bit fatty and he did not eat it. (Super picky on bacon!)
I was so, so needing a comfort food breakfast just like this, served by kind and attentive people that truly seemed to want to serve and loved their job.
Thank you for the excellent meal!
…………………….
Best captains platter I’ve ever had, and I lived in key west for 4 years! Huge thick chunks of cod, and big oysters and clams, good sized shrimp with soup, salad, vegetable and loaded baked potato. Really great service and decent prices.
Breakfast: It really doesn’t get much better in the area.
Dinner edit Sep2020
had Prime rib dinner. was awful. DO NOT GET THIS. cheapest cut of meat ive ever seen. Extremely salty, and inedible. extremely overpriced
View and nostalgia:
•Brake lights, and memories of blue light specials at Kmart now occupied by DSHS. and the faint emotional memory of hash browns drifting from the Pancake House. 10/10, would sniff again.
Entertainment:
•A guy in the next lane picking his nose with Olympic commitment, someone trying to merge like they’re being chased by wolves, and at least one mysterious honk that nobody earned. Solid 9/10.
Speed of service
•Somewhere between “glacial” and “someone push me.” At one point, a woman with a walker passed me. I think she smirked.
Emotional Journey:
• Stage 1: Hope
• Stage 2: Denial
• Stage 3: Pancake cravings
• Stage 4: Existential reflection
• Stage 5: Acceptance (and also still craving pancakes)
Would I recommend?
you enjoy while
•questioning your life choices listening to the same •song three times because you forgot it restarted
•staring longingly at a breakfast restaurant you can’t reach
Seriously I may not have been there this time, I was tempted but having to go to confession with
“Bless me father for I have sinned, it’s been 1 week since my last confession. You know my last one when I confessed to finding new creative curse words to describe an annoying coworker. (Oh hr made new rules as the direct result)
flipping off random people on Wheaton Way, 303, Highway 3, ferry lines, Starbucks lines and that lawless wasteland known as the Silverdale Costco parking lot.
This time though Father I missed Mass because of dead stopped traffic. Then I realized that I could have gone over onto Hollis St up to Perry and over the Manette bridge to get to church. AFTER I decided to go into the pancake house for maple syrup goodness, bacon and coffee.
That’s it for now father…..
Ok I got sidetracked. Though I didn’t stop by this particular time I have been there. It’s always great! Coffee is kickass, service is even better and the food is always better!
