This place is the real deal when it comes to Korean comfort food. We had the Gamjatang and the Original Jokbal, and both were spot-on, just like what we had in Seoul.

The Gamjatang had a rich and savory broth with tender pork, that practically melt off the bone. Perfectly balanced, not too heavy, but full of flavor. The Jokbal was just as impressive, tender, juicy, and flavorful, with that ideal mix of savory and slightly sweet.

Service was quick and friendly, too. The staff moves fast, and you don’t have to wait long for your food.

It’s one of those places where everything just clicks, the food is excellent, and the vibe is low-key. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.

Omg if this is not the best jokbal you had, you are missing out. Seriously nobody in Chicago cooks better jokbal than here. I mean this is franchise in korea that has over 100 stores, no wonder its so good. Just look at that color of jokbal, that texure of so chewy packed with flavor.
And I can honestly come here just for their banchan. Their radish and white kimchi, so good. No wonder people refill multiple times, I seen next table refill like 4 times, 3times for myself. It goes well with the meat, wrapped it cabbage with little bit of both shrimp paste and ssamjang, so good.

Its definitely a bit more pricy than nearby korean places but taste is just incomparable. I can never go back to other locations to be honest.

Keep up the good work and dont change!

This is about as authentic as it comes. it’s not the most popular K-food menu that you might be familiar with… but all the items in the menu are super popular in Korea, especially as anju (to have with soju/alcohol). And this place is legit!

We made a reservation via google, but arrived to find out that they don’t honor google reservations. So if you need reservations, CALL!

Also, as of May 2025, they run out of food fast, especially their specialty, the Jokbal (pork hocks) and bossam.

The owner gave us a table (for 8) despite not having a reservation on his records, but said they could only serve us gamjatang. And a few other menu items, minus the Jokbal and bossam.

Getting to another restaurant on a Saturday evening without a reservation would be pretty impossible without waiting another hour or so. So we decided to give them a try.

Good choice!

Finally being seated and putting in our order, the owner sent us a chive pancake on the house as an apologetic gesture. Thought this was actually very tasteful, both in act and in flavor.

Siraegi Gamjatang & Mugeunji GAmjatang
We shared a large of each, and it was plenty of food for 8 of us. This is a pot that will cook on the table. Siraegi is radish leaves, and this one is a more deeper tasting soup. The mugeunji version has old kimchi, though I don’t think the kimchi was that old. And the kimchi taste was actually quite strong, and if I were to order again, I would totally skip this one and get 2 of the Siraegi.
Both were good, with falling off the bone pork and tasty veggies. Overall, I wish they had a little more perilla seed powder.
When you are almost done, you can add rice, and they will make you a fried rice dish right on the table. Make sure you get it crusty and delicious!

Jangban Jjolmyeon
This is a very chewy noodle dish, with spicy sauce and lots of veggies. They bring it out pretty, and give you gloves to mix for yourself. So a little work, but quite tasty. But if ordering the gamjatang, I think I’ll skip it next time – not really worthy of the $17 price tag.

Chive pancake was on the house, and fat and crusty and delicious. I would pay for this!

Reservation troubles aside, I would definitely come back for their more popular dishes, especially their namesake, the jokbal.

At first, I thought the portion size was a bit small for the price, but as we continued eating, I realized it was actually quite filling and satisfying. The flavors had a nice kick of spice, and the meat was chewy in a good way — very tasty.

One downside was the table size. It felt too small and cramped for two or more people to enjoy a generous meal comfortably. It would’ve been a better experience if we had been seated at a larger table with more space to eat at ease.

I’ve visited Chicago many times, and finding a solid Korean restaurant here has always been a challenge—until now! This new jokbal spot absolutely hits the spot and is a perfect place to go with friends for some seriously good food. The jokbal was incredibly chewy, flavorful, and hands down the best I’ve ever had.

We also tried the 시래기 감자탕, 냉채족발, 간장뼈찜, 쫄면, 물막국수, and ended with the 깍두기 볶음밥—and every single dish was delicious. Despite the restaurant being packed, we were seated pretty quickly and the staff was friendly and attentive throughout.

Definitely a must-visit when in Chicago. I’ll be coming back for sure!

Loved the rebranded interior. The whole place has a fresh modern look and everything inside is super clean. The workers were fast and friendly. The menu is simple and easy to read. We got the spicy cold noodles and they were sweet, spicy, and so delicious. We also ordered the jokbal platter which was super chewy and came in a huge portion. Perfect for sharing. The side dishes were all good but the white kimchi was my favorite. I would
come back again especially for the noodles and that kimchi.

Very delicious Korean food. They’re famous for the pig feet and barbecue. Ordered original flavor pig feet, kimchi pancake and cold noodles. Kimchi pancake is so crispy and tasty. Cold noodles are fresh. Very big portions and slightly overpriced. But service is nice and friendly. Got free parking lot and lots of spots. Get very popular at weekend nights.

The food was so tender and juicy. The jokbal and bossam combination was worth the price because we had leftovers! The chive pancake was nice and crispy. The noodle dish we had was also spicy and refreshing. The side dishes were tasty as well!

11/10 for the food.

We ordered the half original, half spicy jokbal, and it absolutely blew away our expectations.

The jokbal overall was incredibly tender and a simple pleasure to chew. The spicy half, in particular, was just amazing. Plus, the portion was HUGE! Truly one of the best dishes I’ve had in the recent years!

We will definitely be back to try their other dishes. So many items piqued our interest, but we simply didn’t have enough room left in our tummies for them this time.

Clean, spacious space, and great service.
