I’m so glad we found this spot a few years ago. We’ve never had anything on the menu that disappoints. The fried green tomatoes reminds me of my grandmother’s cooking. And we always purchase the gumbo to go because we can’t leave without more. In a society where customer service is weak at best, the service given by the staff is very fine.

Happy accident. Would totally stop here again. We were driving through Cincinnati on the way home and saw Pappadeaux from the road, so we stopped. Wait at 8pm was 2 hours, but smoQ was right next door with no wait. Never heard of smoQ, but we had a great experience. Staff was friendly and food was mostly excellent. We tried deviled eggs (so, so as the whites were too hard), chicken/sausage gumbo (great flavor and nice spicy kick), smoQ’d and fried chicken (wonderful combination of flavors) with sides of green beans (tasty with a touch of spice) and smashed potatoes with gravy (good, but a little basic) and the dessert of the day… 4-layer coconut cake (we didn’t care for this as the actual cake was not moist and the frosting seemed like a cream cheese type frosting and that’s not what we’re used to on a coconut cake). “Only” 3 house BBQ sauces on the table, but excellent variety and all had great flavor. Will totally visit again.

If you want some GREAT BBQ, this is the place!!! I tried the Fried Smoked Ribs for the first time ever and they were the best! On other visits I ordered the Ribs and Rib-tips, and they were delicious as well; however, the Fried Smoked Ribs are OMG good!!! Another great must is the Gumbo, Red Beans & Rice, Mac & Cheese and the Collard Greens! I telling you, if you’re in the Springdale, Ohio area, you MUST give to place a go! Your taste buds will love you!!!

Usually the food is good. Tonight it was terrible, and service was not great either. We paid a $100 deposit for the room to host a birthday party. Upon arrival we were told that the cake was not allowed inside the restaurant. Never in my life have I had a restaurant refuse a birthday cake for a birthday party! Some sweet 16!
More and more often this restaurant is empty when it should be busy. I understand why now.

my issue is that not allowing a birthday cake inside of the restaurant is highly unusual and unpleasant. In order to serve the cake and sing Happy birthday, we huddled around my trunk in the parking lot.
I paid you $100 to reserve a room…a venue for our event. Would you agree that it would be strange and unusual to pay for a wedding venue only to have that venue tell you that your wedding cake can not come inside?
My family has held many gatherings around Cincinnati (Stone Creek dining company, The Oscar event center, The precinct) and have NEVER had this issue.
With all of that being said, the greatest issue was with the quality of food and the friendliness of the server and hostess. I definitely could have let go of the cake issue, if the dining experience was pleasant.

The food is flavorful and reasonably priced. The restaurant was clean with a down home decor that we loved. But best of all our server David was fantastic! He welcomed us with a big smile and gave us a thoughtful menu tour. His recommendations were spot on and we will definitely be back! Recommendation is a big yes!

Went for my birthday, ordered $100+ worth of food and was completely satisfied with everything that came out. The easiest way to describe the food is flavorful and abundant. Everyone was completely satisfied and everyone took home left overs. The atmosphere is awesome, we will be back!!

Reserved a party room for a celebration. A month prior and received a follow up call to confirm 2 days prior to event. Was on time and both rooms were given to another party and my guests were seated in the main area. Lori the manager was a pleasure to work with in planning and the staff who served were very attentive. The food was served hot and was good.
The hostess at the door will continue to be the main reason that customers like myself will not return. She was beyond rude in telling me I didn’t have a reservation and we would be seated in the main area for party. I hope new owners would consider changes because first impressions last. And there are better options in the area. Not pleased at all with the experience.

Tried this place years ago when it first opened and wasn’t impressed, so I had never gone back. But was pleasantly surprised when a company function took me there for lunch. They have worked out whatever problems they had when they first opened.
The meats were tender and delicious. The portions were more than I could eat. The nacho appetizer was excellent. The complimentary corn muffins were warm and sweet. The selection of 3 different sauces on the table makes it easy for anyone to enjoy the barbecue flavor that they desire. One sweet, one spicy, and one mustard based.

The food and service is always great here! The catfish and the salmon croquettes are my favorite. My husband loves the ribs and says they are always cooked to perfection. The brisket is quite good too. We never leave without dessert. No matter how full we are, it’s just too good to skip!
