I have hosted the Pikes Peak Writer’s Night at the Senate since August of 2025. All of the staff have been fantastic! The food and service is top-notch! Xavier and Jason have been so great to the group. Big “Thank You” to Ken & Gena for letting us meet in the private room. We hope to continue in 2026!

This a great place to stop by for lunch or dinner if you happen to be traveling on I-25 going from Trinidad to Denver or. Vice versa. It is easy to access from I-25 and there is plenty of free parking in the River Walk area near the bar.
The service is friendly and relatively quick, although it can back up a little bit at the height of the lunch hour. There is a good selection of draft and bottle beers. Also there is a wide selection of liquors such that about any drink you would imagine could be made.
The menu offers a broad selection of burgers, sandwiches, wings, salads and other bar food to satisfy your appetite. I had their namesake sandwich, the Senate, which was an extremely tasty and satisfying blend of Italian sausage, green chili, marinara sauce, and provolone cheese. The homemade chips served as an accompaniment were divine.

We waited 36 minutes for our order, and when the food finally arrived, not everything we ordered made it to the table. Unfortunately, the server didn’t check in or ask whether we still wanted the missing item, which was disappointing.
I ordered my burger medium rare, but it came out well done. The pub chips were extremely dry and flavorless, and I’m still not sure why there was a random, overcooked corn chip mixed in with them.
That said, I’m not giving up on The Senate. I’ll give it another try in the future and will update this review if things improve.

Driven by numerous times, decided to stop for lunch on a Sunday at 2pm.
Was not busy at all. Outside seating. Food was pretty darn good. A burger for me, my wife had tacos. Fairly varied menu. Cool old building. Service was awesome. No hesitation on going back. This is a popular place and it can get busy in the evenings.

I recently placed a to-go order for the Black and Blue Burger with fries. The preparation time for the burger exceeded 30 minutes, and the resulting product was, without question, the most unsatisfactory Black and Blue Burger I have ever encountered. The burger itself was notably small, featuring a very thin patty that lacked proper seasoning. Furthermore, it was devoid of blue cheese crumbles, instead presenting only a small quantity of blue cheese dressing. While the fries were cold and lacked the requested side of ranch, I did find them enjoyable. My feedback regarding the culinary execution is significant. I am fortunate to reside in a city with higher culinary standards for downtown establishments. This establishment’s performance is deeply disappointing. The quality of the experience at The Senate Bar and Grill was profoundly subpar.

Cute pub style dining. Bar downstairs with dining tables and upstairs is pool table and darts. Nice beer selection and good food. Fried pickles were good, fresh and hot with a nice dipping sauce. Ordered pulled pork with the homemade tangy bbq sauce, generous serving and it was very tasty. Service was very friendly. They have some activities like trivia to keep you entertained. Would definitely come back to sit on the patio and enjoy the food and drink here.

Friendly staff, a very nice atmosphere. I feel safe here related to good staff security. The food is great. I stop in at lunch because their food is yummy and there’s friendly staff and customers if you feel like socializing a little. They serve soft drinks. So it’s a relaxing break. Tuesdays and Thursdays has the best Karaoke DJ I’ve experienced, she has a fantastic personality. And she has 20 years of experience. So whoop whoop!! Join the fun.. there’s pool, a DJ at the dance floor on Friday.. poker night.. comedy show you can get tickets for..and other fun activities. And fun, sociable people. It’s across from the Marriot Hotel.. so it’s very convenient if your visiting or have a convention. I’ll be looking forward to seeing even more fun and interesting people. Hope to see you here.

The Senate Bar & Grill is a great stop for a bite to eat in Pueblo. Our waitress (red hair, didn’t catch her name) was helpful and fast while maintaining a sense of attentiveness to us. The food was also great. I had the Classic Cheeseburger with fries. The burger was good, but the fries were a little saltier than I like. Inside, there is not a lot of room, but there is plenty of outdoor seating. With only a 2 minute walk from the river, and so many incredible food options, this definitely is a good spot in the area for some food and drinks. Keep up the good work, staff!
