We visited the Shack at 8:30, diner is packed but was able to get a seat right away. We ordered an Egg Benny, the Mess, and some sides of scrambled egg, corn bread and corn beef hash. The food was amazing overall, especially the grilled corn bread. All dishes came in generous amount, but the home fries was a little bland. Good service in general, just a little loud with the table behind us making laughing the whole time slightly loud (but all good at least it means they’re happy!)

Breakfast was good, quite large, too. I had the Denver omelet with home fries. My son had the kitchen sink & enjoyed it. We were so full, we didn’t eat lunch that day. I liked the decor of antiques.

Came to CT for a visit with family. The day we were heading home my mother in law said let’s go to the shack for breakfast. she said she goes often and its very good. She wasn’t lying. you can taste the love put into the food here. Breakfast was so good. cornbread was the best cornbread I’ve ever had. Portions are huge. And Food came out pretty quickly. I will most definitely be back to the shack next time we visit my mother in law.

so it’s basically a diner so judge it as such. Our food was good, I had the scallops platter, which was generous with a load of onion rings and coleslaw. The scallops were good, not great. The onion rings were good and the coleslaw was good, once again, not great. The service was good.
My wife had a chicken wrap with clam chowder and she enjoyed both of them. All told with all this food and we each had a beverage came to $48 which I think is pretty darn good. There’s nothing wrong with the atmosphere but once again I stress its diner.

First and last time ordering food. I called and ordered two takeout breakfasts. The first one was called French 2-2-2-2 for $17.99, according to the menu, and the second one was called Corn Beef Hash for $15.99, also according to the menu.
My husband went to pick up the breakfasts, and when he got home, I checked the receipt.
It turned out that the prices for the corn beef hash had been changed and weren’t in line with the restaurant’s menu. Instead of charging $15.99, they charged $11.99 for two eggs plus $6.00 for the corn beef hash, a total of $17.99, a difference in price of $2.00.
When I called the restaurant and told them what had happened, that they had overcharged me, the response was that the prices included tax, but that wasn’t the case because, first the French 2-2-2-2 price was on point with the menu price and second, they also charged $2.79 in tax.
The person I spoke to was clearly upset, so she didn’t let me finish and started arguing with me on the phone. All I said was, “You should review your prices,” and ended the call.
I’m posting this so diners can double-check the prices when paying; yes, it was only $2.00 this time, but who knows for how long they might have been doing this or/and how much it could be next time.

I loved this place. Sweet atmosphere, wonderful service and amazingly good food. My boyfriend and I like to do two meals and share. A savory sweet kinda thing and this really hit every spot. Banana walnut waffles and the kitchen sink. Yum on top of yum and sooo full!

All I can say is WOW. What an awesome place. The food was excellent along with the service. Clean atmosphere. It’s a must go to if your in the area. I couldn’t even come close to finish my plate. The portion was huge. Would definitely go back.
