What a great atmosphere! The food, not so much. Lasagna is more like casserole soup or some type of Italian chili. No structure, no texture. Veal marsala is more like jerky. It’s the absolutely thinnest slice of veal I’ve ever seen. Scallopini is not this thin. Bread it as you’d expect, but it’s some soggy either Frozen food or cooked at too low of a temperature or it just sat on the counter before being served. Presentation is underwhelming. Salad is loaded with mozzarella. How about a little bit of fresh parmesan or Romano? Listening to others order around us, And I see that cheese fries and wings are the things to order. Maybe this joint is less of an Italian restaurant and more just of a pizza bar food type of place. I can’t quite figure it out. Having been twice now – there won’t be a third.

Paula’s has been in business for over 20 years. Our waitress was lovely. We had the meatballs, veal parm, pork osco bucco, and veal picatta. All of the dishes were significant and delicious. We are originally from Western NY and are very picky about our Italian food. The sauce here is spot on for us. I have purchased sauce by the container, also. You can get it hot or cold. Their dinners come with a lovely salad. They have lunch specials and a children’s menu. The pork special is the absolute best. Highly recommend it if you like tender, fall off the bone meat in a delicious sauce (different from their tomato sauce.)
The atmosphere is dark, booths, tables. If you haven’t been and you live in NB, go and try it for yourself.

First time eating at Paula’s. Our server, Sam, was nothing but friendly and professional. She made sure we were satisfied with our choices (she even suggested a dish. There were many to choose from). I ended up getting the spinach stuffed shells. My daughter got a chicken salad. Everything was tasty and great! The atmosphere was nothing short of relaxing. Very fancy little place. Loved everything about it! I highly recommend this place

Fantastic service by Kim tonight!
This was our first time here and I can say we’ll be back. Our only wishes are that the Alfredo sauce had a bit more flavor and as for the chicken in the chicken piccata, the skin was a bit soggy once it got to the table but overall the lemon sauce in that dish was amazing.

Okay sooo everything there food wise is perfect we love eating there and go on a minimum twice a month. We have slowed down lately because everything is so expensive in life so I don’t think that they have went up on anything on there menu but because everything in life has went up it’s been hard to eat there more than twice a month anymore. It cost a family of three close to 80 dollars by time we get entrees, appetizers and extra stuff on everything. I like the chicken bacon cobanara, My wife usually gets lasagna and son will get a large pizza. Then we get bread sticks with Alfredo sauce. And the sausage is amazing. Their food is sooo good I a so hungry now thanks to this review I am going to call my order in now. Their food is the best in town as far as Italian and cleanest fastest and friendliest staff in town. Okay maybe I will write some more when I am done getting food tonight thanks to this review I have to order again. It’s fire

Keep forgetting we have a great Italian place here in New Bern. Stopped on a Sunday afternoon for late lunch early dinner. A couple of big church groups otherwise the service was great. Calamari, house special pizza and sesfood/calamari marinara hit the spot. Salad and bread come with entrees. Definitely needed to go boxes.

I do recommend Paula’s pizza if you enjoy Italian food. Didn’t have to wait to be seated. Food was amazing. All four of us enjoyed what we ordered. The waiter did his job to the fullest and the atmosphere was great. 80$ for the four of us.

TODAY WAS THE DAY!
After several years of eating occasionally at Paula’s, I ordered the Eggplant Rollatini, (involtini di melanzan). WOW! My new favorite. This dish features thin slices of eggplant rolled around a flavorful cheese filling and top with red sauce & baked with more cheese on top! Absolutely delish!

We recently dined at Paula’s for the first time and found it to be great value for a delicious meal set in a lovely atmosphere. The one negative that truly puzzled us is the awful cheap silverware they use, which is what you might be saddened to see in a roadside diner. Please upgrade your silverware so as not to spoil an otherwise pleasant dining experience.

Nice place. Service was good, fast and friendly, restaurant was well kept and clean from the lot to the interior. Food was okay, home made from scratch, but very bland with the exception of the breadsticks. Love Italian food but among the others Italian eateries in New Bern I’m not sure the flavours are comparable to theirs, thus the 4 stars as everything was good but its food for its price and flavours.
