At our Pensacola, FL location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

I went to Captain D’s about a month ago the food was not hot and the fish tasted like it had been sitting under the heat lamp for a while. So I just went to try again about 15 minutes ago and the fries were not fresh and fish tasted old. I even asked the last in drive thru if everything was fresh and she said yes. I won’t be going backcountry to this store!!!

Overall a very mixed experience, I hadn’t been to the chain in several years. This trip certainly didn’t go how I remembered other locations. First we attempted to go through the drive through, they had placed a sign stating drive through speaker broken pull around. We had three cars in-front of us, with no movement in ten minutes; we elected to pull around and go inside. The inside was a bit run down, but very clean. It took another few minutes to place our order; the cashier was spilt between drive through and dining room. The food came out promptly, the food was decent. I ordered the two piece chicken and fish meal with green beans and coleslaw. They left out one piece of chicken, the crust was different in texture than I remember as well as overcooked slightly. The fish were cooked well however have burnt charred bits from where the oil was dirty. The sides were honestly the best part of the meal. I doubt I will go back to this location due to the wait and service.

Apparently, they don’t think they should put lids on their green beans, and it’s completely acceptable to ruin the entire meal because the juice is now completely soaked into the fish and the hush puppies!!! Seriously??? Guess it is fairly obvious why the “checked by ” portion of the sticker was not signed! Even better than that is when I attempted to call them to speak to a manager, I got a voice mailbox . I don’t know who owns that place, but they may as well shut it back down again and turn it into something else before they get shut down by the health inspector, or they lose their investment completely. I work in a restaurant as a cook, that is so not the way you do business. Too bad you can’t give negative stars!!!!

It’s my 1st time to explore Captain’s D. I ordered the seafood platter spicy with shirmp, crabs, white fish, and hush puppies side with rice and coleslaw. It was amazing. Friendly place.
The only thing they need to do in that area is put more lights in their entrance because when we got there it’s was dark and mostly at that hour the customer are seniors.

I was looking at the pictures of the review that was left under mine apparently whoever left that review about the food being burnt does not know what fish looks like when it’s cooked their food is perfect DD and her staff know what they’re doing here no matter what you do there’s some people that you can never satisfy no matter what you do and that’s what some of the reviews sound like to me the owners know this place is immaculate they are doing a good job here you can’t make everybody happy no matter how hard you try some people are just buttheads there was nothing out of place everything was good the food was perfect the atmosphere was perfect and the people were friendly thank you for being here lifelong Pensacola Resident

I had a very bad experience awhile back at that location and vowed to never go back to that location but it was closer to the one I usually go to. Anyways I got the 3 piece batter dipped fish with fries and and macaroni and cheese. The employee who was working was VERY nice. She did her job but as the food goes: the fish had old fish batter on that was brown and the Mac and cheese was overcooked and drowned in cheese sauce. The fries and hush puppies were the only thing I managed to eat. I really would like a refund but I ALREADY saw that movie before and I need my money for Christmas shopping NOT bail.

Slow as the day is long. 30 to 45 minute wait because the manager on duty puts the newest person on the register. Not that new people are bad just looked like the cashier had zero training on how to greet or run a register.

I recently went to Captain D’s and this was after having an already bad experience, but I figured i would give it another shot. The batter dipped fish that I got was terrible, I think it was double fried and old, I didn’t even bother finishing my meal. I really don’t like to write negative reviews but I got burned twice and don’t think I’ll be going back again. The person at the counter was pleasant to deal with.

Food was pretty good. Property could be better kept. Buckets for roof water leak on the floor. Tables needed wiped. Had a distinguishable smell- not a good smell.
