The Original Pancake House was founded in Portland, Oregon by Les Highet and Erma Hueneke. Today, we’re bringing their vision of serving authentic pancakes, waffles, eggs and other traditional breakfast recipes to Normal, Illinois. We use only the best ingredients, such as 93 score butter, pure 36% whipping cream, fresh grade AA eggs, hard wheat unbleached flour, and our own sourdough starter. We even have gluten-free and vegetarian breakfast options!

First time guest. Upon entering we were seated immediately. The booths were full so we were seated at a table for 2. The table was very small and extremely close to others so there is not much privacy for personal conversation. Our waitress was very accommodating, efficient, and make regular stops to check on us. When the food came it barely fit on the table as I said they are very small. The coffee and food was very good. The omelet are fluffy and nicely sized. The coffee has a great flavor very bold but not to strong. We had blueberry pancakes which they had blueberry flavored syrup which was delicious. Overall the food and service was amazing. The small tables that seat 2 are to small and to close to others. We would definitely return but request being seated somewhere with more room.

The old guys came here today for Breakfast. They got us in a back corner which was perfect for us. We were there for a few hours since we had members able to come at different times. The Waitress we had was outstanding and patient. I missed pictures today. The food was outstanding. I had the shashuska. It was the best version I have had so far in central Illinois. Well worth the effort to come here for breakfast.

I was hungry for a good breakfast and we have never tried The Original Pancake House. I ordered the 2 egg breakfast with bacon and Xtra Crisp hash browns, the wife ordered 2 crepes a strawberry and a cherry. Our waitress was very nice and professional. It didn’t take very long to get, unfortunately that’s probably why the hash browns were not crispy. The thick cut bacon and eggs were cooked well. The crepes looked good but I didn’t try them I was pretty much full when I finished my glass of milk, I always love to top off my breakfast with a glass of milk. Kinda like a chaser.
The sun room was nice but very loud my wife had to remove her hearing aid after being there a few minutes. The whole place looked clean and new.
I was able to pay at the table by scanning the ticket. Which is somewhat okay, but in today’s age is this going to start a skip without paying

Always stunned by how good this place is in almost every aspect. Great eggs, great pancakes, exceptional orange juice. Not to mention that they have incredibly good gluten-free service that has not given me many problems as someone with celiac disease. And the servers are always so nice! Definitely one of the best places to eat in town

We tried The Original Pancake House on a whim. Our server Taylor was great. She was prompt and frequently checked to make sure we had everything we needed. The omelets and bacon were cooked perfectly. Pancakes were light and fluffy. Yet, the scrambled eggs with cheese were flavorless. The biscuits and gravy had little to no sausage.

Our first time here and we were impressed. There is a wait, but not too long, as this is a very popular restaurant! There is seating in a glass ceiling area that is very nice with wicker furniture and the inner area has booths and tables. Our waitress was great, quick and polite. There are employees walking around offering coffee, etc.. The staff is top rate and well trained! The menu items vary and the price is a little above most breakfast places, but the portions are big, you will take home some. Everything we had was very tasty! We highly recommend the Original Pancake House!

Normally, I love this place. This morning the service was terrible – food dropped off with empty glasses and never got any refills. We waited approximately 25-30 minutes without the server returning to our table. Sausage was burnt and dry, and the server never returned to my table to ask for a replacement.

One of the best breakfast places in town. The staff is friendly and quick. The food has always been fresh and hot.
I have tried the cinnamon roll pancakes, the Dutch baby and the apple pancake. The Apple pancake was definitely the best! It is huge and can definitely be shared or taken home for later.
Their juices are fresh and oh so delicious.
I highly recommend the checking the waitlist before you go, they can get busy.

Food is delicious. Atmosphere welcoming, but my waitress wasn’t so much. I had just sat down at the table and hadn’t looked at the menu yet, so when I decided to order no one came back to check on me. I was just sitting there. Even the manager didn’t check to see if I was taken care of. I finally got the waitress after yelling out to her that I am ready to order. This waitress was not attentive. I wasn’t asked none of the basic questions that let the guests know that you are here for them, so I left the restaurant unsatisfied..I have been a customer since the restaurant first opened and I always received great service. Now, Everything is different.
