Every dish was fantastic, but the standouts were:
Seafood platter – Includes scallop, prawn, and fried oyster. Devine. Palawan is the unexpected standout here.
Black Pepper Chicken tikka – perfectly tandoori grilled, moist, and flavorful.
Crispy Cabbage and Noodle Salad – Fresh, light, satisfyingly crunchy. I could eat this all day and feel good about myself.
Minced chicken lettuce parcel – Lettuce wrap with a light curry chicken, perfect way to start your meal
Punjabi Channa Chaat Tart – Explosion of all your favorite Indian street food flavors in a single bite.
Butter chicken – Don’t judge me, but this was amazing. My only wish is it was a bit spicier.
Truffle naan – Superb complement to the butter chicken
Cocktails were also great. I especially liked:
Smoked Old Fashioned – Perfectly executed, lingering smoke lasted throughout the drink.
G’Old Fashioned – A fig dominant old fashioned with notes of coconut and an Indian whiskey base. More unique than the Smoked Old Fashioned, and a tad bit lighter.
Service was impeccable, and I especially liked our server’s willingness to be honest with us about his thoughts on the dishes. Felt like we were friends by the end of the night 🙂
Prices were reasonable given the quality, and since it’s tapas style, you could order light and get away under £100pp.
We had the ‘Favourites’ menu which proved to be a fantastic introduction to the food. Some great, innovative Indian dishes, very tasty and nicely presented.
Decent, friendly service too.
£55 for 4 courses was good value too. Another restaurant that’s an easy recommendation.
From the first sip, the Arctic Mojito impressed with its refreshing coolness, blending mint and citrus in a way that instantly awakened the palate. Its natural sweetness and herbal notes paired beautifully with the delicate bubbles of the Wild Idol Sparkling Rosé (England, 2023), whose subtle fruitiness and clean finish added a celebratory tone to the evening.
The starters set the tone for artistry and precision: vibrant salads and intricately plated small bites layered freshness, spice, and contrasting textures. The grilled selections — smoky, tender, and kissed with char — exemplified the skill of Amaya’s open kitchen. Each piece felt thoughtfully seasoned, highlighting the beauty of spice without overpowering the ingredients.
The main courses continued the momentum with deeply satisfying richness. The kebabs offered warmth and complexity, while the bread and sides added comforting balance — crisp, aromatic potatoes and soft roti meant to cradle each bite. The biryani, fragrant and beautifully layered, was the kind of dish that brings out the soul of Indian cuisine: rice perfumed with saffron and perfectly cooked meat or vegetables, a harmony of textures and aromas.
Dessert was a delightful surprise — playful in presentation yet elegant in flavor, ending the meal on a note of sweetness that lingered like a fond memory.
Every aspect of the experience reflected Amaya’s Michelin-level attention to detail — from the plating and ingredients to the attentive service and calm dining atmosphere. It is a restaurant that approaches Indian cuisine with respect, creativity, and confidence, transforming traditional flavors into something truly exceptional. I left with a deep appreciation for the craft behind every dish and a strong desire to return.
Amaya is such a great spot! Not your typical Indian restaurant, which makes it feel like a bit of an experience. The menu does need a little thought as it’s best to share and try a few different things, but the food is seriously good. The venue itself is gorgeous with a really lively atmosphere. It’s not cheap, but totally worth it for the quality and setting. Perfect for a special night out.
