After visiting L’Auberge Chez François many times over the years, I finally decided to write a review. This most recent visit was with friends for our annual holiday gathering, which has become a tradition for us. A few of us arrived early and started the evening at the bar with cocktails — an extra dirty gin martini with blue cheese olives, followed by a Boulevardier, which set the tone perfectly for the night.

Once seated in the main dining room, we opted for the prix-fixe menu, which is truly the best way to experience L’Auberge. The evening began with the bread service and amuse-bouche, followed by my appetizer choice: La Cassolette de Joues de Boeuf, beautifully braised beef cheeks in a sherry wine sauce, rich and comforting. For the salad course, I chose the duck special of the day, which was elegant and well-balanced. A house-made sorbet followed as a palate cleanser before the main course.

For my entrée, I selected the Les Escalopes de Veau — veal scaloppini with Virginia ham, jumbo lump crabmeat, wild mushrooms, crème sauce, and spaetzels — an outstanding dish that perfectly reflects the restaurant’s classic French technique. Dessert was a raspberry soufflé, light and flavorful, followed by chocolate truffles to finish the meal. Wine pairings throughout the evening were equally impressive, rounding out an already memorable experience.

The service deserves special recognition, particularly Brian, who took exceptional care of our table from start to finish. His attention to detail, timing, and professionalism elevated the entire evening. The restaurant itself was beautifully decorated for the holidays, adding a warm and festive touch to an already elegant setting.

L’Auberge Chez François continues to stand the test of time for a reason — exceptional food, impeccable service, and a complete dining experience that makes the drive more than worthwhile.

Had the prix-fixe and loved every bit of it. Hot bread with butter and ricotta cheese spread to start, delicious chive crepe and wagyu beef cheeks stew, followed by a great Caesar salad. Papa’s bouillabaisse and the rockfish entree were excellent. Finished with chocolate and raspberry soufflés: hot, fluffy, and not too sweet. A hearty, memorable meal overall.

This place is a lovely Alsatian French restaurant in some beautiful area that is gorgeous to drive to and eat in… it is like a pilgrimage.

The amuse bouche was a lentil mushroom soup which was enjoyable.

The wagyu beef cheeks are a reason to live.

The garlic bread is a reason to live

The lobster bisque is like homestyle as was the bouillabaisse. The tarte au chocolate was excellent but not my favorite.

Excellent for a day trip and a date you want to impress and a good value for the pre-fixe.

I will try to be better w pics!x

We celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary here and we loved everything about the restaurant – the Strasbourg art, Alsatian plate, beef wellington, chocolate souffle, and the staff. Service was superb, food came out quickly, and the ambiance is intimate but friendly. Saw families with small children. Ample parking. Very scenic drive to get there. Highly recommended for special occasions!! (We honeymooned in France and visited Strasbourg so it was a very special experience for us)

Having our wedding at Chez François was one of the best decisions we made! My wife and I have been longtime fans of the restaurant, celebrating holidays and family occasions there over the years. The food has always been sumptuous, and the service impeccable. So when it came time to choose a wedding venue, Chez François quickly rose to the top of our list.

It turned out to be perfect for our intimate wedding of 45 guests. We held both the ceremony and luncheon reception in the courtyard under the beautiful tent, which provided the perfect cozy atmosphere for our fall celebration. The Chez François team helped us plan every step and took care of every detail with care and professionalism. Their service was top-notch—someone was always there when we needed anything.

The food and drinks were in a class of their own. Our guests raved about the canapés and thoroughly enjoyed every course. To top it off, the chef even made a special appearance! Our wedding was a wonderful success, thanks to the incredible team at Chez François.

My husband and I decided to celebrate my birthday at this restaurant, and I highly recommend it. The staff is incredibly warm and polite, making you feel like you’re dining in a serious setting. They’re very professional and patient. Today’s specialty dish was the Beef Wellington ( ), which was cooked to perfection. We definitely plan to return!

We enjoyed a fantastic dining experience at L’Auberge and are delighted to add another 5-star review for food and service.

The bread is served warm with a cottage cheese spread accompanying the butter. All was delicious.

Next we enjoyed the last tomatoes from the garden as a hot soup. Wonderful.

The garden salad was extraordinary.

We choose seafood entrees and were amazed with the flavors and presentation.

Ending with the chocolate souffle felt indulgent.

The service from start to finish was marvelous. We felt like honored guests.

We sat in the back room near the fireplace. The only reason for 4 stars for atmosphere was the large party with young children who would occasionally slip away from their parents and run around the dining room.

Celebrated my husband’s birthday at this amazing place and had such a great time! The food was incredible and the service was excellent. Brian was our server and he made sure we had everything we needed the whole night.

We had the escargot, beef cheeks, rack of lamb, beef, veal and lamb chop with lobster tail—and finished it off with the chocolate soufflé (which was so good we forgot to take a photo before digging in!).

Thanks so much for the complimentary dessert for my husband’s birthday—really appreciated the extra touch!

Took the fiancée here for valentines dinner. Neither of us had been here before. Everything we ordered was great and we definitely would return for a special occasion. Normally when I go to higher end restaurants, I always leave still hungry. They bring out a tiny bite of food on a massive plate and I was definitely skeptical about that prior to coming here. Let me say this place is not like that, the portions were good sized and I left full and satisfied. In fact I feel like if the portions were smaller this place would be michelin star lol. Overall great place to go.

We have been here several times and every time is amazing. Wonderful service from the host, to waiter, and sommelier. Amazing food from beginning to end. Seafood is fresh and wonderful. Such an amazing wine selection. I absolutely love the soufflé. Wish the hazelnut soufflé was still around but I do love the raspberry that replaced it. Always look forward to dinner here.
