The food was burnt to a crisp — black, bitter, and disgusting. Completely inedible. How does this even leave the kitchen?
And the packaging? A joke. Oil and sauce leaked all over the bag like it was thrown together with zero care. Total mess.
This is not cheap food, and even if it was, this quality is unacceptable. No standards, no quality control, no respect for customers. I regret ordering and will never come back.
Service was attentive and pleasant!! Thank you Gagan for making this an experience!!
I’ve tried many of the ‘commonly known Indian restaurants in Edmonton’ and to be honest, this place has the best Indian food in Edmonton hands down.
This time when I went there, as soon as I entered there was this awful stench. As if someone had vomited. It wasn’t in just one place but the whole restaurant smelled really bad.
Despite that me and my friends decided to sit down. I gave my order Dal Makhani and steamed Rice first, my friends then gave their order. Their order was fairly late, people shouldn’t have to wait 30 minutes under normal circumstances to get their food. Except, my order Dal Makhani and Rice took 45 minutes!!! The restaurant isn’t even busy!!! There was a group that came after us and ordered after us and they got their food first before any of us got our food and we had ordered variety of different food.
I am a vegetarian and never had meat in my life so worst of it all, there were clear signs of cross contamination in my steamed white rice! I found some grains biryani rice in my white rice. Why can’t there be separate utensils/scoops for different rice? Come on, you guys can do better than this. Overpriced, for what????? Service is bad, food is cross contaminated, atmosphere is bad. What exactly are you charging these prices for? I’d never come here again.
Edit: Got a response below saying “Biryani Rice is vegetarian”. I didn’t order Biryani rice, did I? I don’t think there should be this kind of cross contamination which can be easily solved by having an extra scoop or keeping your scoops clean after use. Especially when you charge premium prices. Just my two cents.
I visited Town Chef recently, and the food was absolutely amazing. Every dish was full of authentic flavour and perfectly prepared — you can really taste the passion in their cooking.
A special shout-out to Simran, who served me during my visit. She was incredibly warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Her service made the whole experience even better. It’s rare to meet someone who balances professionalism with such a friendly attitude.
Overall, Town Chef is definitely a place I’ll return to and recommend. Great food, great service, and a great atmosphere.
