Bartenders are friendly and professional. Excellent drinks. I grab a cocktail and get food to go about once a week, I recommend the lamb stew… delicious. Bar area could be larger. Fun atmosphere with fun locals.

My favorite place to eat when crossing the Valley. This is one of the last great traditional California-Basque canteens. Don’t come here expecting a cheap steakhouse, quick meal, or haute cuisine. If you’re lucky, you’ll be seated at a communal table with checkerboard tablecloth and area farmers. There’s no printed menu. If they’re serving lamb shank, order it — when you pick up the bone the meat falls off in aromatic bliss. Every entree comes with a progression of hearty sides and simple house wine. Pace yourself. This is a farmer’s meal. Service is efficient, kind and unpretentious. Treat your waitstaff well. Take time between courses. Talk to people at other tables. Be grateful the Wool Growers Restaurant has survived the commoditization of California

Historic restaurants serve Basque dishes. The staff was nice and they have this family style sitting style. A ready-made menu course depending on the date. The serving is a feast even with two, the fries and pasta was delicious.

We had a very nice lunch there. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The food was amazing and there was so much of it too. Had to take a lot of the main food dishes home.
They had good music on. Seemed like a lot of locals were coming in too as well.

We have come here over the years while when this area. Our visit last night was wonderful as always. Service was excellent, many enter choices but we both had the lamb loin chops. Ask of the accompanying dishes were excellent too.

We have been going to WoolGrowers for over 30 years because their food is excellent. We had a birthday lunch there for a party of 30.WE’RE NOT DOING A LARGE THERE AGAIN ! I put down $ 150 to reserve a private room. I spoke to Valerie by phone a couple of times & once with a male staff to arrange for the party preparations, electrical outlets, WiFi etc. THE DAY BEFORE THE PARTY, I get a call that they overbooked & the private room was no longer available! There went my party plans . Valerie tried to say I changed the time of the party & that’s why it was double booked! They had 4 opportunities when I called 4 times to advise me of their mistake. They gave us 3 appetizers to make up for the inconvenience. Oh, and also, they don’t split the check, so we had to figure out who would pay how much
( a real mess & challenge).
Isabel our wait person was very gracious & did the best she could.

The location is quaint and nostalgic.

My middle of road rating is based on the restaurant promoting gluttony and waste.

They probably shouldn’t be open for lunch because they don’t give you any options and its one size fits all 4-5 course meal. By the time my entree came I was full and had to take it to go. They only offer a cellophane bag for your leftovers. It looks a little like something you use to pick up dog poop, quite unappetizing.

The food quality is about a 7.5. I guess for what you get the prices aren’t bad but who wants to pay $38 per person for lunch.

We love this place and have been coming here for special occasions since 1992.

Ownership has since changed but everything feels just the same. You still get a bottle of house red wine on the table for free and enough food to possibly feed an army. This is not an in-and-out meal out. It’s an experience. We usually spend a couple of hours when we go.

I like to bring a handful of friends with me when I go, so we can all pick a different entree and share. Everything is served family style, and the number of sides you get is jaw-dropping for first-timers. My favorite sides are the vegetable soup and the beans. The salad is made with a house dressing you cam buy to take home. As far as entrees go, the shrimp is my top pick when available. I also enjoy the prime rib, the pork chops and the New York steak.
