Reviews
They really need to warn first timers about how huge the pancakes are . Yes, we had to get a to-go box .
Thank you!
Looking at it from the outside is way different than being inside the establishment. From the outside it blended within the surrounding buildings, but once I entered the restaurant it had a great ambiance, especially with the greenery wall great for photo ops. The lights were nice and ample seating in the front of the building, with more towards the back of the building. There was a lot of natural light and was able to see the farmers market as I had breakfast.
Service:
Service was great as soon as we entered the restaurant and was almost seated immediately. Our waitress was able to answer all of our questions and was even able to offer recommendations.
Quality:
I had the Mexican Scramble with a pancake. Before I get to the great part of the meal, the Mexican Scramble had so much flavor and was a decent amount for what was paid for. The sign wasn’t lying when it said Pancake Heaven… I got a buttermilk pancake and it was delicious. The right amount of fluffiness and still had the ability to absorb the syrup that was provided. Definitely a top spot for eating purely pancakes.
Fili’s Fave:
No surprise here…the pancakes are where it’s at and definitely going to broaden my horizon with the various types of pancakes they offer.
Now if I could only obtain some of the merch that the employees were using
Downtown Waco’s Cafe Cappuccino brands itself as “Pancake Heaven”—lit up in neon like a promise. But anytime you declare heavenly status in breakfast form, you better deliver. So… did they?
Atmosphere & Setup
Cozy, diner-esque with a touch of charm (including a random Eiffel Tower photo that keeps things interesting). The big catch? You’ve got to scan a QR code at the entrance to get on the waitlist. Not exactly warm and fuzzy, but it’s efficient—especially on weekends.
Food Rundown
• Breakfast Taco: Bacon, hash browns, cheese, and eggs folded inside a flour tortilla. A bit of shredded cheddar and a side of picante sauce—which, honestly, felt like a throwback. Not the worst, not the best—just unexpected. Would’ve preferred a fresh, in-house salsa to lift the flavor.
• Sweet Potato Pancake: Huge. Like, one covers the whole plate huge. Texture was nice, edges had a crisp, and it was sweet without being overkill. Ate about half and called it a win.
• Coffee: Solid. Hot. No complaints. And the best part? Tony, my server, offered me a to-go coffee without even being asked. That’s next-level.
Service: The Real Highlight
Let’s talk about Tony. Attentive, friendly, checked on me multiple times without hovering. He anticipated what I needed, and honestly, that elevated the whole experience. It’s rare to get that kind of thoughtful service these days—Tony’s the kind of person that makes you want to come back, even if the pancakes don’t knock you off your feet.
Egg Surcharge? Yep.
There’s a whole sign about it at the front. “Due to rising egg prices…” and so on. Honestly, I’d rather they just build it into the menu price and call it a day. Nobody wants to walk into a breakfast spot and be greeted by a cost breakdown memo.
Final Take: 4 out of 5 stars.
The food? Decent. The vibe? Chill. The service? Exceptional. Tony, if you’re reading this—you’re the MVP. And if you go, just know one pancake is plenty. They don’t mess around with portion sizes.

The food was mostly very great. Mexican mash is super flavorful. Everything was cooked really well except the biscuits and gravy was cold.
One single egg on the side was charged 4.05 with surprising and a bit of a rip off since a lot of the items were just barely more than that for a larger amount of food.
Other than the biscuits and gravy being cold, overcharged for a single egg, and the food taking a bit to come out it was great. We enjoyed it!
