In 1950, with a $500 loan from his father, Bill Miller opened a small poultry and egg business. Three years later Bill Miller Bar-B-Q began as a small fried chicken-to-go restaurant. Today Bill Miller is a family owned and operated business with 77 locations in the San Antonio, Austin, Corpus Christi and surrounding areas. We take pride in cooking all our barbecued meats in pits smoked with 100% live oak wood. We offer a variety of meats such as brisket, sausage, bar-b-q chicken, pork spareribs, turkey and fried chicken. We specialize in the baking of breads and pies made fresh daily. I HIGHLY DO Not recommend this place. My suggestion is to go to Taterque if you’re looking for a truly satisfying meal. The meat here was dry, the barbecue sauce lacked flavor, and the mac and cheese tasted more like boxed than house-made. Just because it’s right off I-35 doesn’t mean it’s worth the stop. I love leaving a restaurant feeling full and happy, and unfortunately, this wasn’t it.

I got the Thanksgiving Dinner Package this holiday. The cornbread dressing is delicious. It’s packaged in quart containers. It comes uncooked and needs to be baked to 165F. My grandkids loved the green beans. Get the tea ½ sweet and ½ unsweetened. I like the pumpkin pie. Day before Thanksgiving pickup is ready. The process is well organized and efficient. All this is good but the service I want to highlight is that you can get the turkey carved. I’m not good at it and I don’t like it so I’m not going to get good at it. Get your turkey carved!

I drove to this location from DALLAS, TX. It’s the first location coming from the north on I-35. I grew up in San Antonio in south Texas. It was my birthday on July 1st and I wanted a taste of home. I REALLY came for the fried chicken! I ordered 3 orders of fried chicken and 2 Rancher plates with brisket and sausage, couple brownies and pecan pie slices to go. These young people did an EXCELLENT JOB! Every bite was a memory back home. The chicken was hot and crispy perfect taste and flavors were EVERYTHING I remembered. THANKS GUYS for being one of the best part of my celebration!

Bill Miller BBQ was good. Had the brisket, sausage and ribs with macaroni and beans. I also got the brisket sandwich on the side. Although I do prefer more smoked flavor, overall it was good. Macaroni could be better but the Pecan Pie is amazing. At first no one was at the counter for a bit, then the cook came over to assist me for my pick up order which was ready for pick up. If you decide to visit, try the pie!

Girl at checkout seemed annoyed. I couldn’t hear her very well on the drive thru speaker since they had a running working truck delivering supplies right by their speaker. The bacon and egg taco was barely a taco. It hardly had any egg and it wasn’t even folded properly into the tortilla. Wish I was lying but how you see it is exactly how it was given to me (See photo). The bean and cheese taco wasn’t wrapped properly so they folded the aluminum foil right on the beans and all the beans got smothered onto the foil. Got too messy to even take a photo. I don’t like to complain but this was really bad. It’s been years since I’ve been to this location cause last time had similar issues. I guess some things never change.

The place was good and the staff was friendly but the breakfast Tacos did not compare to the location near my house. Missed the opportunity for a picture but I got a bacon and egg taco. 1 strip of bacon (which is fine) but hardly any eggs in it, so image that. The eggs were so dry. Disappointing 🙁

So I have a three year old daughter, I know she would eat the brisket and Mac n cheese and fries. I would eat the sausage, moist brisket and fries so we order a Rodeo Plate. I order, and they were nice and everything was fine til I go home. My daughter now can have brisket, nor can I for that matter. The brisket was old and over steamed making dry dark beef jerky marks on my brisket, they new this, so instead of serving bbq on the side they drenched it in bbq sauce like a brisket and sausage rancheros. I called and talked to the GM Barbara and she acted like she did not know they are doing that. I don’t believe her, her employees must be instructed to do this or why would they do it? Barbara also told me there is no way to give me a refund that the best she can do is give me new product next time. After eating a little here and there, the last thing I want to do is grab a meal. This is ridiculous!

This place for having lunch is just OK. It’s not a real BBQ restaurant with rich dishes and nice atmosphere.
Btw, the brisket by itself was like a boiled meat with a minimum amount of BBQ sauce. So, same as turkey that we ordered. But the sides were tasty!
So, here you will get relatively good food, so fast and for not a big price.

Excellent Fried Chicken, none better – Excellent Service and super clean restrooms. Everything priced decently, for all the food you get. I’m from the Rio Grand Valley and we need a Bill Miller down here. Maybe one in Harlingen but most definitely one in McAllen.
