I recently visited VaibhaV and tried both the South Indian Thali and the Non-Veg Thali — and I was really impressed. The South Indian Thali had a great variety: sambar, rasam, dal, vegetables, rice, flatbread, papad, pickles, yogurt, and a sweet — everything felt well-prepared and comforting. The Non-Veg Thali was hearty and satisfying, with flavorful meat, good rice/flatbread, and side dishes that made it a filling, protein-rich meal. Portions were generous and perfect for a full meal.

The staff was friendly and helpful, the food arrived promptly, and the overall vibe made it a pleasant, relaxed meal out.

My husband brought home some food from a dinner.I would have given this five stars or even six if the spice level would have been reasonable. If you cannot taste the ingredients and you can only taste and see chopped up green chilies in the masala dosa and the chili in the biryani, it is not good. I couldn’t enjoy it because even being of Indian descent and as someone who can tolerate an exceptional amount of heat, this was burning my mouth up. In fact, I was debating whether to throw out all the take away food my husband brought, but I don’t like to waste so here I am a couple of days later, eating the biryani while my sinuses are completely draining away. It’s sad because the chef is from Hyderabad and the biryani would be perfect if the heat was brought down just a touch. That being said, I do understand that food from Andhra Pradesh region is known for its extreme heat, but for me it was too much to handle. Do not ask for medium heat, just go for mild.

The coconut chutney was as good as homemade and not diluted like you get in a lot of restaurants. The snake gourd halwa it was tasty, but I had to drain excess ghee.

South Indian restaurants in the Jersey City Journal Square area are a pretty good choice. They offer a variety of options for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. The service is decent and they also have a buffet available on weekends at specific times. It’s a nice spot, especially if you’re a vegetarian. We enjoyed the food overall, although the atmosphere felt a bit crowded despite the ample space. Overall, it was alright.

I’ve been coming to sapthagiri/vaibhav regularly, and it never disappoints! The food is always fresh, flavorful. The staff is incredibly welcoming and attentive, making every visit a great experience. Whether it’s my favorite dish (sapthagiri thali, goan shrimp curry, buttermilk) or something new from the menu(fish fry), everything is consistently delicious. This place has truly become one of my go-to spots. Highly recommend!

I miss living close this place so I could order takeout from here every night. Try as I might I can’t even find another Indian place with Gobi 65 and Chicken Lasuni. They are so delicious sometimes I drive 40 minutes just to pick it up. Chicken Vindaloo and Lamb Rogan Josh are also amazing.

I was disappointed with the service provided. The Dosa took very long time to get served, we ordered Bangalore masala dosa and it did not taste good. Please do not try it. Panner tikka masala was too sweet. Medhu vada & veg kurma was great. Overall it was not so pleasant experience for a Saturday evening!

From Vaibhav, when ordered from Ubereats, never getting again the pesarattu upma ever again. I think lost that cost of it. But otjer items like idli was good but vada little better than pessrattu the possible worse taste and texture and cooking style and combination of ingredients not right. Chutney showed 3 types in the picture but got only one coconut chutney and gave sambar more than asked for. That saying sambar was to go quick as might have to throw in few hours to make fresh or it will further get bad. Well done Vaibhav.

SAFE review

Service:
Was great. We were able to sit without too much wait, surely because of Covid. They gave enough time to review the menu, food came timely and we were frequently checked on to see if we wanted anything. The only glitch being that they served the food before we had plates and they apologized for the same. The water was a small bottle, and that felt stingy.

Ambience: This is a two-in-one restaurant. Sapthagiri serves vegetarian and Vaibhav with same entrance but a different seating area serves non-vegetarian food. Sapthagiri is plain in its look and feel, while Vaibhav is more classy with a banquet hall doubling fit for dining room.

Food: was delicious. The idli, masala dosa and medu vada were very delicious; the sambhar and coconut chutney that came with it took me back to Kerala – enjoyed it. The Chicken Tikka Masala was really good, while the mutton (goat) biriyani was delicious. Ford desserts we had bread pudding (double ka meetha) and rice pudding (kheer) – both failed to meet expectations, and was disappointing. We saw the platter on the menu after we ordered, but would try that next that.

Experience: over all was great. I wouldn’t say that most authentic Indian food, but ranks up in list of those I have had recently. Will definitely recommend and surely visit again. The menu was too big and very overwhelming.

What a great experience very authentic Indian punjabi food. There are so many vegetarian options. You can also ask cook to change the food the way you want to eat. We don’t eat Onions & Garlic so they made it without and still test was awesome.
