The food was pretty good. My burrito lacked a little in flavor but it was huge. The salsa and the hot sauce helped it a ton. The fresh fruit was was fresh and actually really good. Our service was great and the coffee was solid diner type coffee. They’ve got lattes coming soon which will be a great addition.

This is such a staple! It’s old school cozy with a traditional menu – the burrito is one of my favorite items. I love biking over for brunch on the weekends. The staff is always friendly, short wait times, and solid food!

Finally decided to come in after driving by the amazing establishment in multiple different occasions. During my visit we decided to order the steak and eggs with the home fries & sausage skillet. Everything was delicious and definitely looking forward to our next visit.

My husband couldn’t stop raving over what a deal the pancake contest was. So, when we neeIded to be by Huntington one morning -we totally needed to drag the kids for breakfast again. Parking was seamless for us coming just an hour after open, but the parking lot is pretty tight and I can only imagine how packed it could be later on in the day. Spacious dining room with a covered patio in the back for additional seats outside. Typical American Diner vibes, wooden dining sets- TVs with sports channels and a menu that goes on for ages.
I had ordered the Corned Beef Hash and Eggs – ($23) – portions are huge here, food was underwhelming. Cold Brew tasted burnt and was lukewarm at best. My husband got their Huevos Ranchero, the only commendable item was the refired beans. Our friend had either eggshells or crab shells in her omelet. Both kids opted for french toast, with a side of bacon. I don’t know who thought crisping the bacon until jerky would have been a good idea for a kids menu item but the kids for once weren’t excited about their bacon.

As underwhelming as the food was, our server left more of a sour note than the food. As she was taking 1 cleared plate, while asking for refills on drinks while a majority for the table was still eating. She made a point to ask if we needed any boxes as well while dropping our bill. On her next check in- not even a couple minutes after; she dropped the box on the table and again asked if we needed anything else. By now, we’re checking to make sure there wasn’t a crazy line, or if the restaurant just picked up without us noticing. Several empty tables- with no line. We felt rushed for no reason. Aside from our main server pushing us to leave, the hostess was very warm and inviting.
Can’t say i’d be back.

I would say that this is my favorite diner in Newport Beach. I say diner because it is like a traditional American diner, not so much a retro diner. It’s located on beautiful 101 in North Newport Beach. Very close to the HB border. Parking is really easy, they have a free lot attached on both sides of the restaurant. Inside is also very large with two different dining areas, as well as many different type of seating options from booth, to table, to counter. The menu is also awesome, it has a lot of unique items on it and it’s the sort of place where you can get something new each time. Our server was very polite but there was a bit of a delay getting our food items out, but it was very busy when we stopped in for Saturday morning brunch.

The food quality and taste here really beats out the competition. Everything that we ordered was honestly fantastic. I ordered the Seafood Benny with Wild Caught Crab Meat and switched to the thick cut sourdough toast as the bottom, which I would recommend. The crab was fresh, the hollandaise had great flavor, and the eggs were cooked perfectly. I honestly loved every bit of this dish and would highly recommend ordering it. I am eager to stop in again next time I am down in the OC area.

Cappy’s is a neighborhood institution that’s been here for decades and very popular with the locals.
Meals are hearty, delicious, and at a reasonable price for the portion.
I had an egg white omelette with chicken, mushrooms, guacamole, and pico de gallo, with potatoes and corn tortillas.
Parking however can be tight.

The food portions are huge and quite tasty; the build your own omelette was stuffed with red peppers, bacon and mushrooms and topped with delicious guacamole.

The secret bread: squaw!

Will be back!

Cappy’s Cafe is a “must stop” if you’re in the region.

The restaurant offers an incredible menu with a great variety of choices. The serving size are huge so plan accordingly since you may need a box for taking what you’re not able to finish home.

The staff is courteous, attentive and responsive. I would strongly recommend getting a reservation. It’s easy to do from Cappy’s Cafe website.

As for parking, Cappy’s Cafe does have a small free parking lot. Don’t worry if the lot is full, there’s plenty of free parking along the street. The huge positive of parking on the street is the ability to burn off the calories from your dining experience .

Now the food… I would recommend going with either the chicken fried breakfast dish or Seafood omelet… Basically the “go big or go home” choices.

Came in on Valentine’s Day and we’re lucky enough to snag a table. Breakfast was amazing. Every place I go I always look for corn beef hash, and Cappy’s didn’t disappoint. Really delicious food. Nice and warm in February. Kind staff and servers. Generous portions for the price.
