Still hands down the best pizza I have tasted in the north state. I liken it to pizza I had on my way back from the middle east in 94, when we had a layover in Sigonella, Italy, and I had a Calzone for the first time there. It was baked in a stone oven and it was a small mom & pop pizzeria.
Which means they kept the ingredients and the way they make it consistent as when it was Mary’s Pizza Shack which is so awesome! The wait staff (Brooke & Natalie) were so friendly, personable and very attentive to detail! Even the house salad I had, though a little small, was sooo good!
They even have very affordable lunch specials if you are on a budget, but for the price you can do no better, even if you doubled the price.
They even have a full bar, and some nice microbrews on tap (see photos). I would have to say this place is a hidden gem, and the fact that you can be in the parking lot in 2 minutes after exiting Interstate 5, means it is also very convenient and easy to get to!

I’d give them more than 5 stars if I could. We had my eldest son’s birthday here today and the kids all had a blast. We had kids ranging from 1 year old to 9 years old and they all loved it. It’s also a nice opportunity for adults to catch up while the kids play safely. The best birthday party I’ve had for any of my 3 kids. The food was also excellent. Not to mention the staff were all great and a special shoutout to the owners who are just lovely. We were treated so well with such excellent service. We even had a personal emergency while there (not in any way caused by or related to Charlew’s) and the owners were very accommodating to us and very caring to make sure everything was ok (which it ended up being totally fine). They all went above and beyond to service us from the start, throughout the party and through our little emergency. I highly recommend them as a restaurant and especially the Adventure Room for kids birthdays. 🙂

Thought we would give this place a try. Clean restaurant, friendly server. Lots of variety on the menu although the prices are quite high. Ordered the vegetarian pizza and it’s the first time I didnt take the leftovers home, it was that bad. Fairly small in size, dry crust and hardly any toppings. No flavor at all. We rarely go out anymore because everything has gotten so expensive so to spend what we did on this pizza was really disappointing. The kids play area looked fun though. They also need some kind of beer menu for the table. They have a beer wall in rhe bar area and you pay by the ounce.

I have had several birthday parties here and this place is amazing. Food is absolutely delicious. Best in town. Service like no other, both Charlew and his wife actually come out and greet you. They are very accommodating and Provide excellent service.
The giant pizza always feeds everyone and you get to choose several different toppings. Pasta and is very fresh perfectly flavored.

The food and service are great. We really like the restaurant, but the prices are a bit unjustified, in my opinion. This plate of Pesto Tortellini, my wife ordered, was about $25. Their X-Large pizzas are about $50. In a higher end restaurant, these prices would be acceptable, but in a vacant strip mall, it’s a bit unrealistic.

When walking in the restaurant was clean and inviting, and we were greeted/welcomed by multiple staff. We’re from Wisconsin and just passing through so we won’t be back unless we’re in the area again, however if we do ever happen to be out this way I defintley would come back!

Service and food were both great! I was excited to try the pizza along with the cheese bread. Both arrived hot and fresh and were perfectly cooked. Spaghetti with meatball was also better than expected!

The only few things to note but that aren’t notable enough to take away from my rating is the bill can be a bit on the high side rather quickly (however they are upfront about their pricing including advising of an increase by $1 on some items that wasn’t posted on the menu yet and any restaurant is becoming more expensive due to inflation/increased operating costs so we knew roughly what we’d be spending) and they do charge 75¢ extra per side for things such as marinara sauce cup to go with the bread;
then cleanliness wise in my opinion would be some ceiling tiles are showing their age and could use replacing as well as a fan that was beginning to collect some dust in it that should be cleaned off more regularly due to its location near the kitchen. The tiles and fan are something many people might not even notice which is why they don’t affect my rating especially as it’s more of a cosmetic thing versus overall service and quality, however I have a high attention to detail and can often spot things others might not. Management can’t make positive changes as easily if guests don’t let them know in what ways there might be room for improvement!

Outside of those few things though I was happy with our meal and would come back!

In my case even just upon walking in to an overall clean and inviting restaurant with polite, friendly, professional staff was enough right off the bat to start with 5 stars with the food becoming the next deciding factor. I leave many honest reviews of good, bad, or neutral at many of the places I visit to help support local business who do well and to help inform visitors or management of places that could use notable improvement. Before becoming aware of the available discount I had already planned to leave a 5 star review as long as the rest of our visit was acceptable. The only difference was it just made me leave a review now rather than sometime within the next couple days instead!

Thanks for a good dinner Charlew’s staff, we always enjoy getting to try new local restaurants when we’re traveling rather than the typical gas stations or fast food.

The wife and I both stopped by here to have lunch.We had ordered the Meet calazone, and it is perfect for both of us. Really good flavor the crust was excellent. I have worked as a pizza shop in the past, and this would be one of the best pizza crusts I’ve had in a bit. I would definitely come back. Place seemed very clean. The service was excellent. The only complaint I have is that they charged me 75 cents for ranch dressing on a $30 calazono. Welcome to the new world, I know!

In the last three months we’ve had three birthday parties here. Their party room, their playroom to them, making pizzas with the kids.This place is a family treasure.Don’t walk , run down to charlie tap house. The only thing I could say they need improvement on, would be some of the younger girls that work there seem to be a LITTLE snobby and it doesn’t come across very well. TRY THE BBQ CHICKEN PIZZA!!!

I’m very disappointed in the lack of service during our visit. Portion of our order was unfortunately incorrect, and our entrées were not brought out at the same time which resulted in some of our food being cold by the time it reached the table. While the food itself was amazing and clearly well-prepared, the service unfortunately took away from the overall experience. I truly hope this is addressed because the quality of the food deserves service to match.
