I dined by myself so only got the Everest Roll, salmon nigiri, and ikura. The star was the salmon—super fatty and flavorful with BIG pieces. The Everest roll was also yummy. Not traditional sushi by any means, but the escolar was so buttery melt-in-your-mouth and the jalapeño added a refreshing kick. Beware: as I didn’t order too many other dishes, the spiciness BUILT UP.
The ikura was tasty as well but a tad on the salty side with less umami richness. I’ve had better.
Overall I really enjoyed my lunch here. Yummy and reasonably priced. I would definitely come back!
Great for date night, family dinner or lunch with friends.
Here is what we ordered:
Avalanche | Roll $15.00
Yami Yami $17.00
Cherry Blossom Roll $15.00
Smokey Salmon Roll $13.00
Dinner Chicken Teriyaki Bento $23.95
(Upgraded form the dinner plate to bento but barley had any check it was dry and cold)
Total after tax 90.83 plus $10.00 tip (even though we didn’t get refills or checked on once throughout our whole meal until the very end)
The tempura in the bento was soggy and tasted like oil, there was minimal chicken that was dry and did not taste good and was cold like it had been sitting there for awhile. We paid almost $24 for a small portion of chicken, a mountain of rice, soggy and oily tempura veggies that tasted like oil. The sushi was triple the size of normal sushi and stuffed severely with crab and hardly any of the other ingredients. Also the salmon was warm (time temperature zone warm) when it should have been colder. I am beyond upset because my husband and I half way through our meals felt so sick so we kept drinking our water in hopes it would help. We ran out of water mid way through our meal and never got a refill until we paid for our bill. We immediately went home and started puking and pooping from the food. I will never eat there again and highly encourage others to not for one the quality and two the price. I’m hoping a manager will refund my order because the least we could have gotten was a refill on our water and we didn’t even get that. I have worked in the food industry for 10+ years so it takes a lot for me to right a back review but this is just unacceptable to pay $100.83 for food that made you sick and was not the service you’d expect for $100.83 we also went right before they got hit with tons of groups intentionally so we would get better service and not rushed slopppy rolls.
We started with the appetizer, Shrimp Shumai (fried), which came with a dipping sauce. The shumai was fried to perfection, giving it a delightful crunch, and we absolutely loved it!
For our entrees, we ordered:
1. **Tempura Udon** – This dish came in a medium bowl with two pieces of shrimp and one onion ring. I was a bit confused because the menu stated “two shrimp tempura and vegetable tempura.” I assumed the vegetable would be an assortment, so it would have been helpful if the menu had specified that the vegetable was just an onion ring.
2. **Smooth Heat Roll** – This roll included shrimp tempura, cream cheese, and spicy tuna, topped with fresh salmon and avocado. Although the menu mentioned it would be drizzled with unagi sauce, our roll did not come with it. I was disappointed because I love unagi sauce, but the roll was still delicious, so I enjoyed it without the sauce.
3. **Nigiri** – We ordered Tuna Toro (fatty tuna), unagi, and yellowtail. The menu indicated there would be two pieces per order, but I only received one piece of yellowtail. While this was disappointing, I set that aside because the fish tasted incredibly fresh and delicious.
Despite some issues with the order, the overall quality of the food was great, and the fish was fresh, so I gave them five stars.
As a bonus, our server, Dylan, did an excellent job. He was friendly, kind, and attentive.
Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant if you’re looking for good sushi!
We got the sushi combo for lunch. Also got the lobster roll and tankosu ramen spicy.
The food’s delicious.
My favorite sushi restaurant in town.
