First time visiting and instantly a top dining experience for me! I was by myself and arrived right at opening. Greeted by the friendliest man who may have been the owner. Warm welcome from all staff. Quickly seated and food arrived much faster than expected. Everything was absolutely delicious! The vibes and atmosphere just incredible. They do serve alcohol there which at first didn’t seem the case. Moroccan wines, mixed drinks and a small beer menu. An absolute must visit, I will be back.

Marrakesh was a delightful surprise. The restaurant has an authentic, cozy, and intimate feel, and the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The menu is set—you’re only asked about allergies, whether you prefer mild or spicy, and whether you want lamb or beef. As soon as you’re seated, they bring water and rose-water mix and towel for washing your hands, which sets the tone for a lovely, traditional experience.
From there, the food arrives course by course, from appetizers all the way to dessert (baklava, black tea, and fresh fruit ). Portions are generous—we were so full that we had to take our last dish home. Everything was delicious and perfectly cooked. My favorite was the chicken: very tender and not overcooked at all. We chose mild and lamb this time, but I’m definitely curious to try the spicy option on our next visit.
Overall, it was a great experience with excellent food at a reasonable price. It’s also a good spot for small parties. One note: there are stairs, so if you have elderly guests or anyone with mobility needs, I’d recommend requesting a first-floor table when you make your reservation.

Marrakesh is an authentic family style Moroccan experience! The food is delicious and the atmosphere is intimate.

We’ve eaten here with multiple groups of friends and family and everyone has enjoyed the food and ambiance.

Your experience starts when you sit down, you wash your hand with warm rose water and are given a towel to serve as your napkin. The tables are intimate family style, you’ll be sharing plates! The menu is 7 courses with some variablity, portions sized to your party.
1. Salad (cooked carrots, cooked eggplant, cucumber salad)
2. Pastilla (savory meat pie with chicken, egg, and almond filling), topped with sugar and cinnamon
3. Slow roasted chicken (you can choose between spicy or mild, I highly recommend the spicy chicken it’s more flavourful and not too spicy)
4. Slow roasted lamb (in a slightly sweet marinade) or beef kabobs (you can order a split of both)
5. Couscous with potatoes and carrots topped with shredded chicken and raisins
6/7. Tea and dessert (fresh fruit and baklava)

They are able to accommodate some allergies and provide an alternate option (e.g., egg allergy)

Marrakesh is quite a unique experience – a must try at least one time!

My friends and I came to celebrate a birthday. It was tight quarters, so we were sitting back to back with the group next to us. Expect to be a little cramped, it’s just part of the experience.

They rinse your hands with warm water and then throw towels on your lap. Then immediately start the 7-course dinner ($40pp). I won’t go into every detail, but the standouts were the spicy chicken (truly the best chicken I’ve ever had), beef skewers and the egg dish. The lamb we were not a fan of and couscous dish was bland. The baklava my friends enjoyed, I found it a bit too sweet personally.

There was a belly dancing performance which was great entertainment. The staff were all SO friendly and welcoming. We truly felt like we were transported into Morocco.

I’m not sure if I would come back, only because while I did really enjoy some dishes, others fell a little flat for me. And I believe you can only ever do the whole tasting menu, not a la carte. I’m still glad I got to experience it!

Our party of four had an unforgettable experience at Marrakesh! From the moment we arrived, the evening felt special, you actually knock on the door to be welcomed inside, which immediately sets the tone for something unique. The décor is stunning, with an authentic and stylish design that transports you straight to Morocco.

The meal itself was a journey. They serve a series of dishes from appetizers all the way to dessert, and you can choose between lamb, beef, or vegetarian options; everything was flavorful and beautifully presented. The atmosphere is made even more vibrant with Arabic music playing in the background, and we were lucky to enjoy a talented belly dancer who brought so much energy and fun to the room.

To top it all off, the owner personally came around to greet every table with warm Middle Eastern hospitality. That thoughtful gesture was the cherry on top of an already amazing night. Highly recommend Marrakesh for anyone looking for a truly unique dining experience in Philly!

This was my second time here and I can’t wait to come back again! This family run place has been around for over 30years serving not just amazing food, but atmosphere as well. They have three stories of seating, although I would recommend getting a reservation because they are always busy. It is a set meal, 7 course experience with food reflecting what I had when I traveled to Morocco! Best to bring a group of at least 4 to enjoy the family style eating. It is also byob and they encourage good vibes and dancing! Cannot recommend this place enough!

Every Moroccan restaurant blows me away. I wish there were more. I don’t know if it is the rose water they wash your hands with, the soft cushions or the belly dancer…. But they always leave me wanting to return. Make sure you go VERY hungry as it is a lot of food.

We went for my birthday and this 7 course expericance is already the highlight of the year. The space is well decorated and cozy. The staff were all so welcoming and kind! We selected the Spicy Chicken and Honey Lamb. The chicken is INCREDIBLE and complex. We couldn’t stop exclaiming after every bite! Everything was paced nicely. The belly dancer was great and so fun to watch! It definitely gives time to digest before your final courses. The tea and fruit at the end were so refreshing! This is absolutely great for an immersing dining experience or party!

An unforgettable dining experience at Marrakesh!

From the moment we stepped inside, we knew we were in for something special. The ambiance immediately transported us, and the entire evening felt like a celebration of tradition, flavor, and hospitality.

The experience began with a warm and fragrant rose water hand washing ritual — such a charming and elegant touch. The multi-course feast that followed was nothing short of spectacular. Both the chicken and lamb were melt-in-your-mouth tender, falling off the bone effortlessly. The seasoning combinations were unique and exciting, especially the unexpected use of powdered sugar with chicken — something we had never tried before, but surprisingly delicious and well-balanced.

The service was friendly and efficient, and the pacing of the meal allowed us to savor each dish. The evening was perfectly rounded off with mint tea and sweet baklava — a refreshing and satisfying end.

Adding to the festive vibe, the belly dancer was incredibly talented and engaging, bringing even more energy to the room without overwhelming the dining experience.

If you’re looking for a fun, immersive, and delicious evening in Philly, Marrakesh should be at the top of your list. We’re already planning our return visit!

This is always the best place for a special dinner! This was my second visit; and I should say that while I couldn’t have expected more, the service was somehow even better than the first time, which was already lovely. I didn’t know we could bring our own bottle of wine, but the restaurant’s selection was reasonably priced. It’s also a great spot for groups of 6 or more. The portions were still extremely large, so we could take leftovers, and they also had small(but definitely more than enough) served vegetarian options. Not to mention that there is perfectly cooked chicken and lamb! Thank you for a wonderful dinner for my friends who visited from far away
