As I pulled up I judged the place hard by the outside look. Walked in, got greeted and picked a booth. The booth table is really low, literally hip level (sitting down). The place is old on the inside too, God knows what’s keeping it together. I literally hoped the food would make up for the flaws! I ordered the enchiladas suizas and the enchiladas in mole and let me tell you…the food DID NOT disappoint!! It reminded me of the movie Ratatouille when Ego tries the Ratatouille, literally mind blown by the authentic flavors that would remind you of grandma’s cooking. I definitely recommend the place.

This restaurant has good food. Unfortunately its service wasn’t. I had an unpleasant experience with a to go order. I initially called and the person who answered the phone didn’t help. So I decided to call back during normal business hrs. Spoke to a Manager or the person in charge about my order being wrong. She gladly said she’d help and replace it for us. It wasn’t anything big just 2 tacos made wrong. I went back that afternoon and the person working knew nothing of what I was talking about. She made a phone call and got everything squared away in a few minutes. I thought all was good. Picked up my order and it was wrong again. Very disappointing considering I explained in full what the issue was. Me and my employees/coworkers got there daily. So if you’re ordering anything to go, check your orders before you leave. Again great food just not the food I ordered.

They have very good food at good price. If you’re hungry, thier breakfast tacos are made with handmade enormous tortillas about the size of a small pizza and are stuffed to the brim. This place has been here for many years and is still popular. It is not very big so depending on the time you may have to wait. Parking lot is also limited but there are places to park nearby.

We had to come to Harlingen for a family emergency and a family member took us to go eat at this restaurant. This was our first time there. The food was okay. It wasn’t hot like you would expected considering the weight that we had to wait the waitress. I don’t know if she was just having a bad day or I don’t know what her deal was but I was lucky I wasn’t wearing my soup cuz she practically threw it at my table. She never came back to offer more tea. Never came back to all to ask if we needed anything. We’re planning to go back to hollinger in a few weeks. We will not be visiting this restaurant

Came on a Saturday ordered breakfast this time. It was good, but when you order Chicharon w egg, you expect the chicharones to be cooked and not like chips outta the bag thrown in with the egg uncooked. Was crunchy. idk who thinks this is the right way, but it isn’t. Yet it’s fair, but it’s like eating pork rines out of the bag. That wasn’t really that great. Barbacoa with 2 over medium eggs was good.

The exterior of this place does not do justice to the interior decor so don’t let that deter you. The inside is bright, colorful and lively with an authentic family Mexican Restaurant vibe. The service was prompt and polite. I ordered the Tampiquena plate lunch special. The sides were very good, including enchilada suizas! The steak was not great but the replaced it right away with a much better cut. Overall a decent, cozy affordable restaurant.
