Tonight, my wife and I stopped in for some pizza and salad. We came in half hour before close was treated like we were one of the first customers of the day. I love Rico’s pizza, but because of the economy, we can’t always afford to have it. Tonight, I decided it was a splurge. Diana was nice and took care of us. I realize this was the first time in years that I’d actually sat down at a Rico’s pizza. I usually just make a pick up order. I like this location. It’s close to home and it seems that people are quite friendly. Also, making a damn good pie helps

Hi all!
We are staying at the hotel across the street, and since there is no kitchen, we’ve had to order food from here two days in a row.
What we experienced is honestly unacceptable.
On the first day, we ordered three dishes. The pasta was inedible. The sauce was sour, the flavor was completely off, and it was impossible to eat. The “Parmigiano Reggiano” pasta was served without tomato sauce at all, just dry pasta with cheese. No balance, no logic, no taste.
Today was even worse. We ordered plain pasta from the kids’ menu, literally just boiled pasta and were charged $7.50 (before tax and tip). No sauce. No olive oil. No seasoning. Nothing. The pasta was overcooked, stuck together, and completely bland. Even our child refused to eat it.
Charging that price for plain boiled pasta, especially for a child, feels like a 1000% markup for something that costs pennies to make. This is not “simple food,” it’s careless and disrespectful to customers.
If you’re going to charge restaurant prices, you need to serve restaurant-quality food, not bare, tasteless pasta on a plate. Extremely disappointing experience.

Nour was amazing taking such good care of us. We got delicious appetizers enjoying from traditional cheese sticks to perfect calamari. Then pizza and pasta that made everyone happy. The boys loved their works one while we ladies loved a prosciutto and feta one. And we finished with tiramisu for dessert. Drinks we also good. So for a budget friendly option, that you can also order as delivery, we highly recommend Rico’s.

We are staying at a hotel near and was told “they deliver” I am in! Nice menu, good prices and a wide variety, i call and make an order, she tells me 45 minutes, wow. Then 25 minutes later they are knocking at the door, the smell hit first, and my mouth is watering, we ordered a Stromboli, ceaser salad, wings, and a philly cheese steak every one was fantastic, hands down excellent! Thank you for taking care of us!!

Unfortunately, our experience tonight at Rico’s Pizzeria & Pasta House (5131 N Tamiami Trl, Sarasota, FL 34234) was extremely disappointing.
We walked in and the restaurant was not very busy, yet no one acknowledged us or asked if we needed assistance. We stood there waiting while employees moved around behind the counter, and it felt as though we were completely invisible.
What was even more concerning was seeing an employee preparing pizzas with long hair and nothing covering it. Basic food safety standards matter, and that was honestly alarming.
To make matters worse, someone walked up to the same area after us and was greeted before we were. At that point, it became clear that this was not a place we felt comfortable ordering from.
Between the lack of customer service and concerns about food handling, we chose to leave. Sadly, this is not an establishment we would return to or recommend.
I hope management takes this feedback seriously, as first impressions and basic hospitality make all the difference.

Wow. Totally blown away by their pizza. It’s made with fresh ingredients, tastes like the real deal, nothing artificial, very filling and sooo yummy. I’m not a huge pizza person, but it was one of the few places open on the 4th of July and my co workers were raving about their pizza so we decided to try it. Well, best decision we made. This is going to be our go-to pizza spot from now on for functions, lunch etc. they also serve amazing sandwiches and salads… best pizza place in the whole of Sarasota❤️❤️❤️❤️

Great pizza, they dropped our pizza when it came out of the oven and made another but didn’t tell us until we waited 1 hour and asked: we heard a crash was that our pizza? She said yes, they’re making another. Nice place, they probably don’t drop everybodies pizza:-)

This is what you get for a dinner of Alfredo. It’s only a tiny portion as you can see and for the cost it’s not worth it. June 21st 2025, I just went back again because I love their food. This is the first time I got a stromboli. It was supposed to have ham and pineapple and cheese and look at how much ham was in this giant 16 in monster. I mean if you’re getting a Stromboli which is basically dough and cheese and the stuff you used to build pizzas I think you could obviously put more meat into it and not just a tiny little roll. This is worrying to mean I will probably try to reach out to the manager.

I would give you ZERO stars if I could. we just picked up this excuse for a pizza & I called from my home, as soon as I opened the box. Upon seeing the canned tomatoes, the soggy, nasty bread, I was so upset that I called the Biz, asap, only to be put on hold. I stayed on hold for a very long time & finally hung up & called back, & I was hung up on 2 more times. Wow. How unprofessional. Ppl pay good money to come here on vacation from all over the world & you guys can’t get a simple pie right? Then- when you mess it up & treat paying customers rudely- you then instruct your employees to hang up on the very ppl who are making their paychecks?! Unacceptable. this is the WHY behind this very bad review- bc your biz deserves it. All we wanted was a good pizza & now, unprofessional, untrained, rude ppl could have gotten us very sick. disgusting. Would never tell my worst enemy to eat here.
