Mac & cheese was nothing but mush! no actual noodle found throughout the whole thing. I’m a Clio resident who usually drives to another city to go to a different Big John’s because of how horrible this location is. But I decided to give this location another try since it had been over a year since my bad experiences of getting subs with bread stale and as hard as rocks two different times back in Dec. 2023 and beginning of the year 2024. So I decided to give this location one more chance just to be disappointed all over again. This time the bread wasn’t as hard as rocks but my Mac and cheese was not edible and the sandwich was insultingly small and skimped on. This past Sunday was my 3rd and final stop at this place. I never reached out to management or asked to have anything corrected because I typically get my items to go and I shouldn’t have to go through that inconvenience. How can you not tell the bread is hard when making the sandwich? Or that you scooped out nothing but mushy slop? Those are mistakes the workers knowingly make and hope to get away with. So I figured complaining to them would do no good.

I decided to try Big John’s today because it’s in such a nice area and plaza, but the experience was a total letdown. I wasn’t greeted when I walked in, and the hygiene of the place was honestly concerning. The counters weren’t wiped down, and the staff looked completely unkempt, like they just rolled out of bed and started cooking.
The bathrooms were even worse—nasty and clearly hadn’t been cleaned in a while. To top it off, I paid a premium price for a sub that had almost no protein; it was just a pile of lettuce and bread. This location has so much potential given the area, but it desperately needs better management and a deep cleaning. Avoid this one until they get it together.

Awesome tasting meat on the sandwiches. I love the cheese and steak with bananas peppers. Very fair price for what you get. Fast service and great for a change of pace when grabbing food on a trip along I-75. Will definitely be back!

I never tried this place because I grew up south of all of them. My sandwich was life-changing. $22 sounds like a lot for a sandwich, but a 16 inch easily feeds 2 people. Way better $/value ratio than most places. And if you keep Texas Roadhouse steak sauce in your house, it makes it transcendent!!

We have always loved Big John’s Steak and Onion sandwich but lately (at least in Clio, MI), the meat has been burnt and crispy and the bread very dry. I did ask for double cheese and when I opened the sandwich there was no cheese. Took it back in but they said they put cheese on it and left it at that. Come on Clio Big John, you can do better.

This location gets it… take care of the customer period. Amazing subs as always at any Big John but it’s the extra customer service that sets them apart. Dinner time on a Sunday, treated us like they wanted us there… thank you for saving our day!!!
