Very iconic Waterloo spot for food. It’s a step back in time if you like Americana, and Iowa history. You’ll never run out of things to look at and talk about. Family friendly and great establishment! We get the Ribs with two meats and two sides! So we went with brisket and burnt ends with their homemade French fries and mash potatoes with two fountain drinks! $33.00 for couple to eat is a very good bang for the buck and most of the time you’ll leave with a Togo box! Highly recommend!

Starbeck’s Smokehouse was recommended and did not disappoint!
We had a great meal at Starbeck’s.
Our group had –
The brisket sandwich, pork tenderloin sandwiches, chicken wings and I had the burnt ends sandwich.
Sides- the cornbread is phenomenal, the fries are classic home-cut style – so good,
The baked beans are chili-like and a bit spicy, we loved them. Their green beans and Mac& cheese were good too. The golden mashed potatoes were great also.
The service was super friendly, the place is very well decorated and very clean.
The only thing that I can think of that wasn’t great was, my burnt ends sandwich was served cold. It had a good flavor but … cold.
Unique things- great cornbread, spicy beans w/ ground beef in them, great fries, huge chicken wings- biggest I have seen, good BBQ sauces, the pork tenderloin had a breading of panko and parmesan that was so so good.
I highly recommend a visit if your looking for a great meal.

The smoked turkey salad was good. My ribs were cold, the baked beans were warm and tasted like they came out of a can and fries weren’t hot and a little undercooked. The servers were above average and friendly and the atmosphere was very good however the acoustics made it very loud. I would try try it again it may have been just an off night in the kitchen.

In from out of town. Menu sounded good. Did not disappoint. We ordered for curbside (which was only hiccup-at first told i could come in to get) I specifically paid extra for curbside as I was done for the day from driving and cold and windy outside. Order was only about 5 minutes past eta- no big deal. Portion sizes are very generous. Turkey sandwich moist tender and flavorful. Burnt ends were a little fatty but otherwise fantastic with or without sauce. Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes very creamy. Cornbread is very sweet and delicious (and for other people like me who don’t like actual corn chunks in their cornbread-there are no chunks!) Would return for sure if in the area again. Only reason the price per person was so high is due to 2 hungry gals who overestimated how hungry they were. Leftovers for days

Great food. Good pork sandwich. Kitchen happily split. Asked for drink menu. Didn’t have one. Ordered house sauv blanc. Had another cuz prob only 4 ounces. $15/glass!!! That’s where they screw you…beware. Loved it till then. Bar staff could prob use professional appearance but was sweet

First time visit! It was busy on a Saturday lunchtime…. Seating was tight but only because the rain eliminated all the outdoor tables. I loved the atmosphere which is full of antique signs and curiosities — it was better executed than most. Finally, the food was very good — ribs and brisket were delicious, and the green beans, potato salad and cornbread were on point. I will be back!

What a lot of food…

This place is great. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The decor is very cool. I really like the indoor/outdoor table and the outdoor seating area. I had the 3 meat meal with 2 sides which is a whole lot of food. I had the ribs, pulled pork, and the burnt ends (they were out of brisket) – I was not impressed with the burnt ends but the pulled pork was really good and so we’re the ribs. I picked the Mac and cheese and the mashed potatoes for the sides which were both delicious. Their corn bread rocks. I would eat there again.

Best pulled pork in Iowa. Great Atmosphere and excellent service. Can’t recommend Enough.
Can be pricey in my family’s case up to $75 before tipping but TOTALLY WORTH IT!

COME HUNGRY.

We enjoy BBQ and the food here is ok…but every single time we order from these guys…our food is ALWAYS missing the BBQ sauce. This is the fourth time. They tend to then also miss a side and the cornbread.

It has ruined our experience for the last time.

Go Famous Daves. They always at least make an effort to get it right.
Starbecks is the worst customer service i can imagine getting. Done with these clowns.

The Big Sexy Burger was outstanding!
Awesome sides as well!!

New Location…Same great food.
Stopped by for another Big Sexy Burger and others ordered up a Tenderloin and an Iowa Philly.
All were very good and generous portion sizes…sides varied from Green Beans to Potato Salad, Fries, and Mac&Cheese.
Great new ambiance in the larger building with alot of nostalgic decorations.
