Excellent place to visit. Atmosphere is very friendly and family-welcome. Excellent food. I gave atmosphere 4 stars, not because of them, but my personal preference. We went at rush time and it was crowded and rather loud for my hearing issues. Again, that’s on me, not Old Hickory

Visiting from Florida. Brought in 7 guests. I always have dinner there when I come to town. This unfortunately will be my last time. Spent nearly $500.00 to treat our guests. Driest chicken and steak I’ve ever had. For barbecue chicken, wondered where the sauce was. Not generally one to complain, but disappointed and almost embarrassed.

Went here based on a friend’s recommendation. We showed up on a Saturday expecting a bit of a wait, which is pretty normal. But to our surprise, there was no host or anyone at the entrance. We waited around 20 minutes, and no one ever came to greet us or even take our name for a waitlist. We weren’t the only ones other people were standing around too, just as confused. Eventually, we all ended up leaving without ever talking to a single staff member. Not a great first impression. It honestly felt like the place was super understaffed. I wouldn’t recommend going on a weekend unless you’re okay with possibly waiting forever just to be acknowledged.

My lady and I decided to try the ‘Authentic Hungarian cabbage rolls’. I am half-Hungarian, and I know what cabbage rolls should taste like. What they brought out wasn’t even remotely close!!!! They were wrapped in something akin to thin leather that you could hardly cut with a sharp knife!! AND—they were prepared without the first bit of sauerkraut!!! As I said before, NOT EVEN REMOTELY CLOSE!!!!!! Their other choices are great, but BEWARE OF THE CABBAGE ROLLS!!!!!!

This is the absolute best restaurant for barbecue in the city of Dayton. Over 60 years family owned with outstanding old fashioned customer service for the new millinemum. Ashley moves like a ballerina while making drinks,, its truly poetry in motion,and Jennifer was fast, courteous, fabulous and attentive. The owner was even present mingling with the guest, great friendly guy.. This was my first visit so if your looking for great barbecue with the best vibe, do check them out.. Today is November 18, 2022 I had a very long day lost a loved one and decided to step out and get a drink, lo and behold Ms. Ally her customer service is impeccable, her attention to detail is unmatched whomever hired her made an excellent decision. Small, cozy restaurant with limited seating so expect a wait. My husband had the ribs and I had the BBQ chicken. Both were very good but be aware that the BBQ sauce is definitely vinegar based. A bread basket is also given with several kinds of bread. The highlight of the meal…the house dressing on the salad! So delicious! Free parking in a lot next door.

We like to go for lunch late afternoon when there’s fewer people and more quiet time. The outside doesn’t say much for the business but the interior is all class! A very traditional bar and restaurant. The staff are superb and the food is excellent. Thank you all!
