Delicious food at a low price! We love the cheesesteaks here. They are large and packed full. They come as a complete meal with a side and drink for under $11! I upgrade my side to a chili cheese fry for only $1.25. These prices are super affordable, especially for families!
The theme here is 50’s diner. The decor is cute, but in definite need of a refresh. For example, the booth seats are all ripped. You can see where they have tried to repair them with tape that has also split open. I know that with any building upgrades, the cost of the food is likely to go up. So personally, I will take the inexpensive food with worn-out decor….just letting others know what to expect.

10 stars if I could. The food here was delicious. We had burgers and they were melt in your mouth good. Wait staff is nice and the decor is fun. The place was very clean and quick. The prices were also a plus! Party of 6 and we ate for under $50. We will definitely be back soon.

My hubby loves their burgers so we go back here over and over. I usually get the shrimp po’ boy which is yummy as well. We always have a pleasant experience at this location. Food comes out quick and delicious.

When visiting Jungle Jim’s from out of town, we were looking for a good burger place and Highway 55 was perfect.

The locations was clean, comfortable, affordable, and most importantly the food was excellent. The quality of service has been unmatched.

The cheesesteak, onion rings, cheeseburger, and pickle chips were an excellent value and perfectly cooked.

Stoped in for a burger and was surprised. We thought this was a fast food place. It’s sit down with an old car theme. I got the double cheese burger my wife got the Philly cheese steak. The food was delicious cooked perfectly. The Philly was the best out of the 2 meals.
We got a shake for dessert and it was really delicious. The total meal was 27 bucks. Blaine away at the places price. Super inexpensive
We will be back

This burger joint gets a star for friendly service. Our server was very sweet and patient. Otherwise, you can do a lot better for burgers and ice cream.
It’s not terrible, mind you, it just doesn’t match up to Five Guys right across the way, or Freddy’s around the corner. The burger has a wide variety of toppings and cheeses, but it’s a sub par piece of meat. Onion rings had a bready coating. They were crisp, but not as tasty as they could’ve been.
The banana split was serviceable, the main problem being the ice cream. I assume it’s the product used in all the desserts, and it’s designated as a custard on the menu, separate from a concrete. The texture of the custard is not very smooth. Tastes all right, as far as it goes, but you can get better.
The decor tries to be nostalgic, but it reaches for a neon kitsch. The counter behind which the food is prepared, looks like a dinner counter for the most part with its tile and chrome, but the placards decorating the lobby are soft focus neon images right from the eighties. Oldies pop songs from the eighties and nineties provide a nice ambience, but this was not worth going back for us.
They serve Pepsi products and everyone we saw was masked. They have platters and Phillies on the menu. For our money, we can get better burgers and desserts elsewhere.

Awesome atmosphere. Great service, super quick. It was our first time here, and we definitely enjoyed our meals. I got the single American burger, and my husband got the triple American burger with bacon and jalapeños on it with fries. Everything was perfectly cooked. Highly recommend this spot, especially after shopping at Jungle Jim’s.

A retro dinner the decor is really unique. You can even sit in a car.

Food was okay nothing special but service was fast. However the custard was delicious I highly reccomend.

Overall very clean and a neat expierence, I would go back for a quick lunch or even just for the custard.

A perfect pit-stop for the nostalgia buff, Highway 55 will transport you back to the days of the Chevy Bel-air, the birth of Rock-n-Roll music, and of course, that amazingly decadent diner food! As soon as you arrive at the entrance of the restaurant, you know that you are in for something special. Perched atop the storefront is a vintage Oldsmobile. As soon as you walk through the door, the décor and aroma will set the mood.

The menu offers up classic diner fare such as cheeseburgers, hot dogs, fries, and shakes. All of which are amazing! In a slight twist, they also offer an array of excellent cheesesteaks that are much better than you might expect to get at a diner. If none of these items appeal to your palette, there are options for salads – from garden to Cobb – and grilled and fried chicken along with seafood. If I were to give H55 a tick in the “con” column, it would be the absence of onion rings on the menu. For myself, onion ring has always been THE quintessential side for burgers. If they were to ask me to make any recommendation for their menu, it would be the addition of onion rings.

When you add all of the above with an incredibly friendly and helpful staff – Highway 55 is worth your dining time!

First off, let me start by saying that the atmosphere was nailed perfectly. I absolutely love diners, and I love the old school diners even more. If you like the old school diner vibe, then this place is for you. The service I received was excellent as well. No complaints in that department. The food, however, was just missing a certain something for me. Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t bad any stretch of the imagination. It was just missing something to really make me want to say, “You gotta go try this!” Maybe I just came on a bad/slow day. Maybe I’m just imagining it. Like I said, the food wasn’t bad by any means. Just missing that extra push to be truly amazing. Overall, I would still recommend this place to try if you’re ever near-by.
