Truly Excellent Hotels & More
Azuli in Versailles is a stylish, contemporary restaurant with a clean, modern aesthetic that fits well into the city’s elegant atmosphere. The kitchen focuses on Mediterranean cuisine with light, sun‑inspired flavours, which comes through in the composition of the menu. The dishes we ordered were well prepared and nicely presented, but considering the portion sizes and the overall simplicity of the preparations, the pricing felt quite ambitious.
The service was generally fine, though not particularly attentive. Nothing went wrong, yet there was a certain lack of engagement that kept the experience from feeling fully polished.
Overall, it was a mixed experience: good food with a Mediterranean touch, pleasant surroundings, but a price‑to‑value ratio and level of service that didn’t fully meet expectations.

We had a great evening here yesterday. Directly next to the entrance to the palace, you could expect this to be somewhat of a tourist trap, but it definitely was not! Excellent food, fair prices and very friendly service. I would come back in a heartbeat!

food is nice, the bread/baguette is fresh and of high quality
The menu is in general 10%-20% overpriced.
However the young waitress with curly hair was obviously a bit stressed so sometimes she was rude. The table next to us asked if they could change to a table more inside, because they were cold(it was bad weather), she literally said “no” and walked away. Both us and the table next to us were shocked by her reaction. They asked another staff later and got table changed in the end. When my dad came it was late, we asked if we could order more food, they said they are closed which I understand. Then I paid. My dad went to the toilet before we left. The young waitress shouted after him and came to me to argue, saying “but he is not a customer!” and she didn’t want to argue with me so she directly walked away after made her part of points.

When we recap our European trip today, my mom said she didn’t like her trip in Paris because of this experience and this waitress’ attitude.

Rule is one thing, how you communicate and treat your customers is another thing. It is a real shame to pay to experience this as well as seeing the owner’s response. Some of the reviews really just stated the true experience. We hope your business can last long.

I am a travel planner and group tour organiser who often brings groups to American tourists to spend the day at Versailles. I like this place not only because it is the closest restaurant to the entrance of the palace but because the food is good and artfully presented, decor is comfortably contemporary and servers speak English. My clients are pleasantly surprised with the atmosphere and food quality; and if they are happy, I am happy!

Good food and professional service. Love the steaming hot baguette they serve. The hummus was lovely, fresh and light with a lot of toppings.
Duck breast was good, with mash and a nice sour cherry sauce.

During a recent day trip to Versailles, we stumbled upon a delightful gem that turned what could have been a disappointing day into an unforgettable culinary experience. After discovering that the Palace of Versailles was closed on a Monday, we found ourselves with some time to spare and, as the rain began to fall, we wandered across the road to a cozy Mediterranean restaurant. Despite the place being packed, our host greeted us warmly and quickly found us a table, for which we were extremely grateful.

The menu offered a tempting 2-course lunch for 28 Euro or 3 courses for 38 Euro, and we eagerly dove into the offerings. Everything we ate was mouth-watering delicious, with the highlight of the meal undoubtedly being the Bullit de Peix-style cataplana—a rich seafood stew brimming with tender vegetables and perfectly cooked potatoes. Each bite was a celebration of the sea, full of deep, comforting flavours that made it clear why this dish was a standout.

We rounded off our meal with a delightful dessert and were graciously offered a shot glass of port by the owner—a kind gesture that capped off the meal beautifully. The service was impeccable, and the atmosphere was as welcoming as it was vibrant. If you’re ever in Versailles, make sure to visit this fantastic restaurant. It’s a true testament to the power of great food and even greater hospitality.

NOTE: Our French is good but not great. The staff were so friendly and had an English menu for us. They made my mum feel so comfortable.

Tip: If you do happen to come here on a Monday realizing that Versailles is closed, you can still visit the Versailles gardens for free as that will be open. We headed there right after lunch.

We visited September the 30th, 2024.
