Our restaurant located at the Roche Estate, in the heart of the Hunter Valley, it has become a favourite for locals and visitors alike. Whether dining inside the minimalist Asian themed dining hall or on the outside undercover terrace overlooking the vines and an architecturally designed amphitheatre, Oishii has become a “must dining experience”. We visited Oishi Japanese and Thai in Pokolbin for our third time. This restaurant is a must-visit for anyone wanting incredible, authentic Asian flavours.
Our table was a feast of their diverse menu. The Chicken Cream Soup was silky, aromatic, and deeply comforting. The star of the show was the Red Wine Duck; it was phenomenally tender and the red wine sauce that was perfectly balanced. The Assorted Sushi was acceptable but for quality and freshness I still prefer mooney mooney or Sydney fish market.
The Fried Rice with Seafood was not packed with generous amounts seafood but had that classic ‘wok hei’ smokiness, while the Pad kee mao was a perfect harmony of sweet, tangy, and nutty flavours, with beautifully cooked noodles.
The service was warm, attentive, quick and the ambiance was stylish yet relaxed.

A nice find for Asian cuisine in the Hunter Valley! Our table ordered the set menu. The curries and tempura are the star of the show here. We ended up ordering extra servings of these. Would revisit again but would probably skip the sashimi and dumplings next time.
Overall not a bad restaurant. Food was mostly tasty and service was okay too. If you end up visiting, we definitely recommend ordering the massaman curry

If in doubt do ask the team, they guve best suggesyions. Authentic Japanese and Thai FANTASTICly made!!! We went for Japanese main: miso soup rice veg and protein if your choice in sauce of your choice. That was the best meal ever. Superb!

We had a very enjoyable lunch, 2 mains with entree, friendly staff. Nice outdoor table was able to see kangaroo family popping around in the vineyards while we ate. If you don’t want pub or cellar door food this makes a nice change. Lots of Japanese options as well if you wanted something fresh.

Food was below average and its very expensive for $28.90 each dish. The amount of food was too small. Massaman beef, has 4 small pieces of beef, pad see ew has burnt taste, teppanyaki is bland and tasteless.

Super authentic Thai food with a view! Honestly it was the best green curry I’ve had outside of Thailand. The service was incredibly fast too. We sat down at 1pm and had food within 15min. I recommend making a booking! Also ask them to put chili on the edamame, it was to die for! Prices are on the high side for the portion size, hey…it’s Hunter Valley!

Foods are ok with great outside view. However staff services are horrible with bad attitude, feels like I need to please them for any extra need other then order and deliver your food.
During the order, she was rushing and wasn’t happy for a simple order change.
Ask for medium rare and medium beed and gave us the wrong order.
Will not return for sure.
