Recently, while in town for a high school football game, my family and I decided to stop by Shakey’s—usually a dependable go-to for quick pizza. Unfortunately, this visit was a big disappointment from start to finish.
Right away, we noticed a horrible rotten-egg smell coming from the restrooms. We always wash our hands before eating, so we went in—but the odor was overwhelming. My wife sat down while I ordered our usual pizza, chicken, and mojos. The food came out slowly, and when my wife went back to use the restroom, she locked the door, yet someone was still able to open it while she was inside. That alone was unacceptable.
We were seated in a booth near the restrooms since most tables were reserved, and every time someone opened the restroom door, that awful smell filled the area again. Eventually, I had enough and decided we’d just pack everything up to go.
Before leaving, I took one last bite of my pizza—only to bite into a metal strip. I brought it up to the clerk, and the kitchen staff immediately recognized what it was. The employee offered me a $10 credit, which at that point I accepted just to be done with the situation, but the issue was never about the money.
The entire experience was extremely disappointing: the smell, the restroom issue, the slow service, and worst of all, the metal in the food. I probably won’t be visiting another Shakey’s for a very long time.

Shakeys pizza takes me back a few decades. Haven’t seen one in years. Came across this one in Palm Springs and enjoy reminiscing with the food and atmosphere. Pizza is average but the chicken is about e average.

I’ve been inhaling chicken and mojos here since 1989 and I dont plan on stopping. So many good memories of birthday parties, family get togethers, and regular meals. The pizza is great. The chicken and mojos are greater. Spent so many quarters as a child in their arcade and am elated to see that they keep games equipped for the young uns. My nephew and I frequent at least once a month for the lunch buffet. Never disappointed. Always a great experience.

I’ve been told about this place forever. A few blocks away from the main downtown strip of Palm Canyon Drive. We went there for their lunch buffet. Get there early. The place was packed shortly after we arrived around 1230.
Very small but sufficient buffet brunch. Pizza, yummy fried chicken, pasta, mashed potatoes, and salad bar. Unless I missed it the only dessert opinion was an ambrosia salad. Food was good. I was definitely full with one go around of the buffet. The fried chicken was delicious. $20 for brunch! Perfect and very filling. I would go back for a beer and the fried chicken! Totally recommend.

Nostalgic pizza place from many years ago did not disappoint; the thin crust pizza was fantastic with crispy crust and the toppings and cheese were great! Fantastic service folks too! Great place for large families. Terrific!

Do you think you’re better off alone? Talk to me. Blowing rings in smoke. He looks up and sighs as another lear jet flies over housefly. Headbanging bye-bye five gallon bucket keyboard solo in the waves and foam. Ineligible japanese. Bye-bye!

Absolute disaster. Chaos in the kitchen and orders were not going out in order. We ordered two small pizzas and one was done and just sat there. 60 minutes later I asked what was going on and the cook gave total attitude. Told me to just get a refund, so I did. I then watched him dump the one pizza in the garbage. Total mess. I used to love Shakeys and brought my partner there to introduce him. So disappointing

I recently went a few days ago and it was one of the best experiences ever! The food was so good and my partner and I had such a good time. The window girl Mariana was one of the most sweetest girl ever with the best customer service i had ever seen. We will definitely be coming back to his location!

12.23.22 @ 4pm (Tuesday) – Visited this spot for the second time with little ones. The small pepperoni pizza($6.99) was tasty. The buttery/oily, crispy, crust appears to be evidence of an old fashioned brick oven. The mojos ($2.99) (thinly sliced, battered, deep fried potato crisps) are extremely addictive, but they would be even better if they came with some type of ranch or cheese sauce. Pretty good price for the food! We were the only ones in the restaurant and received prompt service. It would’ve been nice if the waitress would’ve came to check on us after we tasted the food. It’s not like she was busy with other customers.
