Café Beignet is proud to continue the tradition of serving Chicory Coffee, first introduced by the French to New Orleans when it was still a colony of France. New Orleanians have developed a love for its bolder flavor and we hope you will too! Since 1990, Café Beignet has four locations in the French Quarter with another on the way. Each of our locations offers something unique to its visitors, including live jazz, cocktails, outdoor seating (with pet friendly area…

Cafe Beignet – New Orleans’ Best Beignets | Cafe Beignet
Reviews
The beignets are exactly what you’d expect from this Cafe —freshly fried dough covered in powdered sugar or other toppings. They come out warm and greasy, and they’re nothing like a donut, so don’t expect the same texture. If you’ve never had beignets before, they’re definitely worth trying at least once.
The catfish and fries were decent, nothing particularly memorable but still satisfying.
One thing I found strange was their merchandise—none of it had pricing displayed, and when I asked employees, they didn’t seem to know the cost. That’s a confusing and frustrating business practice.
I also ordered a latte at the smaller location, and it tasted like hot water—very disappointing.
Overall, I highly recommend going to the main corner location. The customer service is better, the menu has more variety, and the overall experience is much more enjoyable.
We noticed canal street has two locations a couple blocks apart. By 10 o‘clock, the cafe was packed so we recommend trying to beat the crowd.
With a close proximity to the Main Street, there transaction took about 5 minutes from ordering to receiving our beignets.
$4.99 plus tax gives you an order of 3 large and warm beignets, covered in powdered sugar.
We got two orders but one was good enough for the moment due to the size.
The staff were professional and polite.
The female employee who took our order, needs to be promoted to manager, if she already isn’t one.
Her interaction with the other employees showed display her care for the brand.
There is ample seating outside with cute tables and chairs to match the theme of the cafe.
The coffee was the highlight of our visit. It was smooth, well balanced, and not bitter – easily the best part of the meal.
We also tried the beignets, the crawfish omelette, and the French toast. The beignets were just okay and did not fully meet our expectations in terms of texture and flavor. Not bad, but not something we would come back for specifically. The French toast, however, was relatively decent and enjoyable. The crawfish omelette was fine, but not particularly memorable.
One thing we did appreciate was how clear and descriptive the menu was. Each item was explained well, and it was easy to tell which dishes were vegetarian friendly. That level of clarity made ordering simple and straightforward.
Where Cafe Beignet really shines is the interior. The space is beautiful, clean, and thoughtfully designed. The jazz theme and Louisiana history reflected through artwork and large portraits on the walls were genuinely enjoyable and informative. There are also many take-home options available, such as spices, mixes, and other local items, which is a nice touch for visitors.
Overall, Cafe Beignet is a pleasant stop, especially for coffee and atmosphere. While some food items did not fully meet expectations, the coffee, interior design, and clear menu descriptions made the visit worthwhile.
Ordering was fairly easy, staff was on point with taking orders, getting food out, and keeping the location clean.
Lots of in/out traffic from tourists so expect all manner of people coming through getting food.
The beignets were great (I could’ve used less powdered sugar) and extremely fresh – you won’t go wrong w/ these. Also enjoyed the Belgian waffle as well.
Great place to order local foods and worth stopping in to. I know there’s several of these in the area so pick which one you want – I prefer this location myself for the food, people, and tourist watching.
