The best Mexican food. We lived. We laughed. We loved… The food. Tears were shed. Tequila was consumed. It was a magical experience.

Also that beer was big. It was not a joke beer. It was real. The true meaning of live mas. Suck on that taco bell!

Enjoyable place to eat, we received super fast service. Tasty fajitas combo of steak, chicken, and shrimp for two. Note the dish was almost like stir fried style preparation – thin pieces of steak, rather than strips of steak you might find elsewhere and how we make it at home. Thus the steak was cooked more than my normal preference for medium rare. On the positive side, the smaller pieces were more evenly distributed in every bite, rather than a strip that might pull out of the tortilla. Shrimp were whole small bay shrimp. When we make shrimp fajitas at home , we use larger shrimp lightly fried to give the shrimp a slight crunch. Lots of protein to less peppers and onions. So it was different than what we make at home, but very tasty. As we got to the bottom of the sizzling cast iron serving dish, a couple of tortillas were used to scrape the dish to get the last bits of the tasty sauce. Side plate of refried beans and rice were tasty. We asked for an additional serving of tortillas and still had fajitas stuffing to take home. We will return.

Eating here is an absolute masterclass in how any restaurant worth its muster should approach great food and service: rotating all of its servers in helping tables on all servicing possible–including seating, serving of drinks, appetizers, entrées, and desserts. The food is impeccably delicious through and through and you’ll find yourself coming back almost every outing you make both on and off the beach!

Not gonna lie, we eat at San Felipe at home all the time. But this in southport was so much better. Different food items and drinks. Kids loved it as always and apparently they had mild and hot salsa. It was a great experience at one of our favorites.

Family Mexican restaurant. Nothing fancy but good food, great service and a lively atmosphere. The waitstaff is friendly and attentive. The guacamole is fresh and tasty. The salsa and chips were bottomless and fresh. The San Felipe fajitas were excellent. There was sooo much meat! I tried the corn and it was cooked nicely and seasoned well. Both flour and corn tortillas were very good. I also tried the Pollo con crema. Again, portions were huge and the sauce was very good. Drinks are strong and well prepared. We will be returning!!!!

We were in town for an overnight and in a quandary about where to have dinner since we’d already had seafood for lunch. San Felipe was near our hotel so we thought, what the heck!

We were seated quickly, and salsa and chips arrived just as fast as we looked at the menu. The salsa is pretty spicy, btw, so we didn’t have much.

Our waiter brought our drinks as we continued to ponder all the choices. I was impressed to see that there were many things not on a typical menu at a Mexican restaurant.

My spouse decided on the steak fajita quesadilla, and I ordered the enchiladas rancheras. My spouse enjoyed her quesadilla, but she thought the meat was kind of dry. I liked my enchiladas okay, but have had better mole sauce.

Our waiter couldn’t have been more hard-working and attentive. In fact, we noticed the whole staff was like that.

We both had plenty of leftovers, all of which tasted better the next day, but we’re on the fence about returning.

I got the lunch special #10 and it was top notch Mexican food. Pictured is a half eaten enchilada, a quesadilla, and a tostada hiding under all of those vegetables. There was plenty of cheese, chicken, and food that I couldn’t finish all of it in one sitting.

I love the atmosphere and the wait staff calls patrons things like “senor” or “amigo”. It’s one of those little things that might not seem like much but makes the experience stand out compared to other places.

Lunch specials are cheaper than tbell and taste better as well.

**I was in here on a Door Dash order and there were two different women waiting to be seated and they took the Mexican man and seated his family before the two other tables. One of the waiters came out, it was clear they knew each other. Ridiculous!!

The steak, onions and peppers were good, the rice and beans were microwaved. There was a shine on the cheese and beans and the rice was dry from being microwaved. The lettuce, sour cream, and tomato were warm from the scalding hot plate. The burrito was also microwaved, the temperature throughout was uneven and the plate was also scalding hot. We were disappointed and will not return. Definitely not worth what we paid.
