This Japanese udon restaurant has a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. When we visited on December 30, it was very busy, so reservations are recommended.

The udon is clearly their specialty and well worth ordering. The cold spicy beef udon was especially delicious, flavorful, and well prepared.

There was some confusion with the sashimi set we ordered. The menu appeared to indicate that the set included an udon of our choice, but we were served a small, plain udon without additional ingredients. The server explained this at the table, but since the menu was no longer available and we could not recall the exact wording, we later realized the description was somewhat misleading. Given that the set costs $30, clearer menu wording would be helpful.

Overall, the food quality is strong, particularly the udon, and the dining experience would benefit from clearer menu descriptions.

Tsuru Ton Tan in Midtown is a beautiful and modern Japanese restaurant with flavors that date back to when udon was first created. The udon noodles are handmade daily, perfectly chewy and smooth, served in iconic oversized bowls with a deep super umami dashi broth that is so satisfying you will want to finish every last drop. Beyond the famous udon, the sushi and sashimi selection is excellent, fresh, clean, and thoughtfully prepared, making this a great choice even for non noodle lovers. At Tsuru Ton Tan, Japanese comfort food, bold flavors, and polished hospitality come together seamlessly, offering a truly traditional Japanese vibe.

An excellent lunch spot. Huge portion of noodles and amazing sushi for a very fair price.
As a bonus, happy hour wine for $6.
The sushi was fantastic – fresh, perfectly made, and incredibly tasty.
Service was very pleasant.
100% recommended.

First and foremost the service is outstanding. My party has several individuals that had not done hotnpot before and they were very helpful in explaining it all. They were also very attentive without being bothersome

The food was plentiful, well prepared and delicious. I highly recomend taking on the hot pot when in the colder times and the sushi we ordered along with was particularly good.

We liked the shrimp tempura, spicy salmon and blue crab the best

Overall an okay spot to have a corporate lunch which is exactly why I came here. Our group was rather large but we didn’t have to wait since it’s fairly empty during the weekdays. The food was okay, nothing really stood up but the portions are huge. The service was great and everything came out fairly quickly. Not sure if I’d come back again but a good option for a team outing.

The food was a good experience, udon bowls were almost comedically large. The omakase experience was mediocre, however filling. Service between each dish could have been improved.

This is a great place to eat if your looking for something last minute, they seated us just before lunch time without a reservation, however I recommend a reservation as it soon got very busy afterwards.

The food was authentic, delicious and the portions were large. The staff are friendly and it’s a great place to take a date.

Oyakodon was okay . Sukiyaki udon was comforting but the sliced beef was hard to chew . Mentaiko udon was the highlight and extra topping with crab meat . Portion overall big size . Service is good and love the ambience.

This is one of my place to go when we’re craving for Japanese food in midtown. The location is really close to Rockefeller, so you can walk around after. Their service is great! and everything in restaurant is just perfect!

Similar to the location in Tokyo I have been to, this restaurant in NYC has famous big bowls of udon of different flavors. Everything we ordered had a good taste (including my phone that slipped into the bowl of noodles). Sizzling shrimp udon could have some more flavor to it. Staff is polite and respectful. I would definitely come back.
