The atmosphere here really set a welcoming tone, and the cuisine was enjoyable, complemented by attentive service. It’s such a great spot for dinner events, birthdays, or family gatherings. The hibachi options were decent, and the prices felt fair. I highly recommend checking it out! We were seated quickly when we arrived, probably because it was a weekday—just a tip: weekends might be busier, so making a reservation might be especially helpful if in a big group. 4 star just because very few restaurants can get everything 100%

I always get avacpdo rolls and the chicken Danbury (chicken Katsu) and it tastes amazing, it’s $13 and it gives me 2-3 meals out of me since I get full easily but even the leftovers tastes delicious, tho whenever I order it, I always add in a little soy sauce as usual but the flavors in the rice from the egg, onions, and carrots do give it a lot of flavor and u can also get a salad or a soup with it but I tend to get a side of Caesar salad. The food tastes very fresh, staff is nice, I’ve been to Umi’s Sushi quite a few times and we only had 1 incident with an employee who kept on rushing us, didn’t give us a chance to look at the menus and we had to ask for more time at least 2-3 times, and trying to give us our check when my sister and I got our food shortly afterwards so we ended up not leaving a tip but we never reported it cause everyone can have their food and bad days but overall, staff is nice, so is the atmosphere, luv the music they play, last time I was there, it was songs from K-pop demon hunters. Umi’s is prob my fave Japanese restaurant tbh but trying to find another Japanese restaurant that’s closer to home cause my sis and I drive about 45min away just to eat at Umi’s.

Having recently moved to the Sheboygan area, me and my fiancée were looking for a go to Sushi spot and we have definitely found that in Umi. The Rolls are always made fresh and the service is wonderful. Not too long ago, I placed a pick up order on a weekend and the wait was long but it was also very busy. The food was fresh so no complaints but just something to be aware of if you are looking to visit on a Friday or Saturday. Visited today on a Sunday and it was very quiet and peaceful. The restaurant seems to be a little older and maybe a little run down but that would be nit picking. Overall always enjoy the food and the service. My favorite signature roll is the Godzilla pictured in the photos along with the rainbow roll.

Very popular spot to go for locals. Sushi is average. Good place for dates, meeting up with friends. A low light vibe which gives a “chill” atmosphere. Thumbs up!

Umi Sushi and Steak House in Sheboygan has plenty of options from sushi to hibachi. Food was pretty good. For appetizers, we got the yellowtail jalapeño appetizer, the crunchy crab salad, abs eel sushi. For our entrees, we got the Spanish grasshopper roll and the Hawaii roll. Great service.

Food was AMAZING! Even the vegan in the group was happy! (That rarely happens). When you walk in it looks like a normal Japanese restaurant, but then every 7 minutes you are tormented by a Japanese birthday song directly from the depths of hell at a volume that your neighbors 3 doors down would complain about.
With that being said – we would absolutely go back and order either take out or delivery.

I went here for my birthday and my experience was excellent. They gave me a free dessert and the sushi that I ordered was some of the best sushi I have ever had. I love the dim lighting in there and the cute dishes.

I decided to order the takeout sushi lunch special with calamari, eel cucumber, king crab, and a miso soup. The soup was very salty and had few leaves in it and tofu fell apart when I bit into it.Tasted like I dumped bottle of salt in it.The eel tasted like nothing and was very small compared to the rest.Cucumber overpowered it and slice of eel was very small. The king crab was big and had mediocre tasted.Calamari sauce was very nice, and so was fried Calamari. It has nice taste to it but it was mediocre. Personally I won’t order here again.

The hibachi food was very good but we didn’t get our soup and salad until we were eating the meal. We had to am several times. The worst was the Happy Birthday song!!! It was so loud! And apparently lots of people came for their birthday because it played very loudly every 5 minutes. I would not go on a weekend

I have only been here one other time, and my service then was ok. However when I visited this past Saturday with a group of friends I was so disappointed. We had a reservation at 7 for the hibachi that a friend made for his birthday. I noticed after sitting down that it was absolutely FREEZING where we were seated. I understand it was zero degrees outside but the vents for the grills were just pouring out cold air directly onto us. (Found out the next day that a water pipe had burst… shocking…) Had to be 50 degrees where I was seated. Then once our chef came out, he started doing tricks with the utensils and had a spatula fly at me, knocking over my water spilling all over my pants. What did he do about it? He said sorry and handed me a rag so I could clean it up. Not only is it freezing now, but my leg is soaked completely with water pooling in my shoe. They never came and refilled my water, never replaced my silver wear that was knocked to the floor, didn’t even clean up the water on the floor. By the time my chicken was put on my plate, my rice was already cold. Still had no water to drink with my meal. It was only after I finished eating that a server came and refilled my water. I wasn’t expecting much but the fact that nobody came and apologized about the water nor even attempted to clean it up was insane. I get if I spilled it I would have cleaned it up but when you spill water on a guest don’t make it their job to clean it up…
