Stopped in for a little lunch after a nice horseback ride and enjoyed myself here. They’ve got some lovely looking homemade pies. Cute little diner with comfortable seating and very cozy decor. Melissa took care of me and she was very friendly and sweet. Make sure I was taken care of. I started with a bowl of chili and it had excellent flavors. Nice and smoky! Then I ordered the spaghetti and meat sauce with mushrooms, and it was a very large portion and very tasty. The only downside is it needed much more meat. There was very little of it. But really great flavor and the pasta was cooked perfectly. A lot of great comfort food on this menu. Also a parking lot. Good prices and great service! I recommend this establishment!

Best Place to get dinner! I was amazed by this place. Atmosphere was great; very cozy and not crowded. Food was served faster than we were expecting and it was Sooo Goood! Portions were good and reasonable price compared to other places. We did not struggle to find parking. People at the place were very nice and welcoming☺️. Will definitely recommend.

Busy place! The Reuben sandwich with potato salad was excellent! Lots of sauerkraut and meat. Lots of pan fries for the egg dish. Unfortunately, the waitress didn’t understand what “lightly basted” was for the eggs. The sausage not very good, so choose another dish – – there is plenty of good food, but the biscuits and gravy very tasty. The flattened cinnamon bun was good but rich. Be prepared to wait and make sure you sign your name up at the desk when you enter.

I’ve been coming to this place for three years in a row, and I always end up leaving with a bad taste in my mouth because of the service. I don’t know if it’s because most of their customers are white, or if that’s simply how things are. The two times before my last visit, I felt like our waitress barely paid attention to us and seemed to assume we wouldn’t leave a tip.
This third and final time I went, they even added an extra 20% charge, claiming we were a party of six, when in reality we were two adults, one 13-year-old, and two young kids (7 and 6 years old). I like the place, which is why I kept going back, but I was never fully satisfied with the service. Yesterday I finally realized that there really does seem to be a different way they look at and treat those of us who aren’t white.
I’m not sure whether the extra 20% charge was added to guarantee a tip or if it was simply a mistake.

This is a fun place to come and eat because the atmosphere is relaxed and easy-going, the people who work there are very nice and friendly. They treat you like family there The food is good and there is a variety of food to choose from. I tried the cinnamon roll for the first time and it was good. I also had the Cobb salad and that too was good. The French fries are done just right. I highly recommend coming here for some comfort food and a welcoming environment. My friend loves the chicken fajitas pita and her kids love the chicken strips and fries.

Thelma’s Family Restaurant – A Big Bear Breakfast Gem

Every year, we visit Big Bear and try a new breakfast spot—this time, it was Thelma’s Family Restaurant, and it did not disappoint!

From the start, the friendly staff made us feel welcome, and we were seated quickly. Our orders included:

Eggs Benedict – Perfectly cooked with runny yolks and delicious hollandaise. The fried potatoes on the side were crispy and flavorful.

Country Fried Steak & Eggs – One of the best I’ve had! Crispy outside, tender inside, and paired with rich, flavorful gravy.

Chorizo Breakfast Burrito – A hit with my son, packed with bold flavors.

Kids’ Breakfast Combo – My daughter devoured the pancakes, and the biscuits and gravy were outstanding.

Everything was hot, fresh, and full of flavor. Five out of five stars—we’ll definitely be back!

Oh yeah and that sausage link was to die for!

The food was very geneous and balanced if you also care about hitting your different food groups, it had a first course salad, perfectly steamed veggies and a flavorful chicken and sauce, I ordered the 1/4 chicken bbq because I came in to dine without hunger, but I ended up cleaning the plate, the staff was friendly, accommodating, and very fast on the service, the atmosphere was also very cozy and family inclided, we will be coming back for the pie and whenever we are back at Big Bear.

Thelma’s is great local diner. We had breakfast that was delicious, service was friendly and fast. They used to be cash only but now take credit cards. I had the huevos rancheros and my husband had the country style Benedict and they were both delicious. Highly recommend.
