We found some street parking and were sat pretty quickly for our party of 4.
Friendly service, and already somewhat busy on a Sunday morning around 10. There is a friendly stray cat that comes around and it’s pet friendly outside. It was nice and quiet and a nice day to sit outside. I ordered a cup of coffee and the tater tot bowl. The tater tot bowl was good and had chunks of sliced Chorizo. I did wish it had more Chorizo and I think the ground Chorizo might be better with the dish but overall good. My friends enjoyed their meal as well and they do also have cocktails.

Our first time here. Glad Google maps shared this location. It was sooo good. The waitress was soo attentive and helpful. Best french toast ive had in a while. Home fries were sooo good too. The pancakes is gigantic. Worth every penny. We will definitely be back. I recommend stopping by for some local great food.

My buddy and I stopped in for a quick bite while passing through. The place has that rustic and historic vibe with art work from local artists adorning the walls. Josh was the server who helped us and he was very attentive and helpful. A pretty cool dude in fact. I had the classic burger, but found it to be mediocre. The patty itself didn’t really fit the bun and the flavor was average. My buddy had the roast beef with horseradish and the onion rings. The roast beef was balled up like the burger and there was little to no horseradish. The onion rings were good, but not excellent. Flavor was average as well for both. For drinks, atmosphere, and maybe a quick bite, it may be worth a try for those who are curious, or passing through.

Listen!!!! Please hear me well! If you love, tomato soup, please stop through this restaurant. I was there on Thursday and started out with the bowl of soup, ended up ordering another. Creamy, flavorful goodness…So good! Consumed that bowl and ordered two more bowls to go. If you order it to go, have them put the croutons on the side. Josh makes a superb hot toddy that will heal everything about you even though you didn’t know you needed to be healed, lol. He was extremely attentive, excellent service. I can vouch for the black bean burger as well and their fries are bomb. I’ll be back to try more, I wish would have in the past. I love their happy hour and it’s a great overall place to be. I missed Joelle this time, however, she’s also a great soul and excellent bartender. What a great neighborhood staple. Make sure to stop in.

My wife and I visited Sunken Well in Fredericksburg during a business trip that also happened to coincide with our 25th anniversary, and we could not have chosen a better place to celebrate. We were recommended this restaurant by a local, and from the moment we walked in, the entire experience was nothing short of incredible.
Jacob recommended the Red Beans and RIce, (My wife had the Picanha Steak) and paired it with the a good beer tasting. Every dish delivered an explosion of flavor and creativity. The presentation was impeccable, and each plate felt like a work of art. The service struck the perfect balance of attentiveness without ever feeling intrusive.
One of the highlights was our Bartender, Jake, who shared the story behind all of the buildings intricacies and history—an extra touch that elevated the entire evening.
To top it all off, Sunken Well surprised us with a Happy Anniversary and killer Bread Pudding.
The ambience Jacob made was warm, inviting, and completely in harmony with the exceptional food and service. Overall, this was easily one of the top ten dining experiences of my life.
If you’re looking for a truly special experience in Fredericksburg, I can’t recommend Sunken Well highly enough! Ask for Jacob!

This was our first time at this hidden gem but definitely will not be our last. We had no expectations upon entering the restaurant during Brunch this past Saturday morning but left full and amazed at the meals we devoured! We were told the specials change weekly. Husband had the steak and eggs that is listed on the regular menu. Our daughter had the Picanha a Steak which is seared Picanha steak, garlic miche, halloumi cheese, chimichurri, cheesy potatoes and eggs cooked your way. I had the Coconut Moriscos Bowl which contained soft shell crab (fried to perfection), grilled octopus, rockfish, rice, roasted carrots and zucchini in a coconut broth topped with mango salsa. The last two items were a little on the pricey side but well worth the money spent. They were busy and had just seated a large party but I thought overall that the food came out in a reasonable time. We look forward to returning soon.

We’ve been to the sunken well tavern for dinner service but wanted to try their brunch today. Of course it’s a Sunday in downtown so they were busy! We were seated right away at the bar area and promptly greeted with menus. I was really excited when I received the brunch specials for the day. They had so many yummy options!

Next time we go I want to try the stuffed poblano. I witnessed many come out of the kitchen and it looked like a masterpiece.

Amazing place! I ate my food so fast I forgot to take a photo! Veggies are from local Snead’s farm. Allie was an incredible server as well! Update! Took photos of my burger this time. Allie was amazing, again and her side kick, Maeve (training) was as well. Truly the best food in FXBG!
