The burgers and fries are delicious. I need to try the hotdogs!
The staff is friendly and service is prompt. Plenty of parking.
Update: I travel once a year to Knoxville and this eatery is always on my list of places to eat. This visit it was a Megladog and chili cheese fries. Come in – you won’t be sorry!
The location is a little nondescript inside an older strip mall type of place. The inside was spacious and they were fairly busy even at a later lunch time. I wouldn’t call the place totally spotless but certainly clean enough to feel comfortable eating.
You can place your order at the counter; the primary menu consists of hot dogs, of course, but they also have hamburgers and a few other meal options. One particularly bright part of the experience was the service. Each of the handful of employees I was interacted with was friendly, polite, patient, and eager to help.
I got an all-beef hot dog with fries; my parents got a hot dog each and split fries; and my husband couldn’t decide what protein option he wanted so he wound up with a single hamburger and a “hawt” dog, which comes with chili, cheese, jalapeños, and sour cream.
Overall, everyone enjoyed their meals! I thought the hot dog was great — cooked perfectly, nice consistency (I don’t like a ton of snap), and the buns were fantastic. My dad felt similarly, though my mom said they were too garlicky for her preference. I tried a bite of my hubs’ Hawt Dog since I like spicy food and also thought it was quite yummy. He said he felt it was a little too overloaded with toppings and he preferred the hamburger, but that both were good. The fries were disappointingly average, though the serving size was huge and good value for the money. I asked for ranch for dipping but I wound up not using any after discovering it was salad dressing style ranch and not my preferred buttermilk. Nice of the servers to accommodate me, though.
I was stuffed, but I also have a serious love affair with all things peanut butter and banana. When in Rome, and at the end of a vacation, too…I had to try the Elvis, which is a pair of their fancy and delicious toasted buns with peanut butter, banana, and marshmallow topping. It was a unique and satisfying confection, though if I got it again I’d ask for them to go lighter on the marshmallow drizzle. That may be personal preference, though — I’m not huge on marshmallow.
Overall, a well-executed take on American classics with super-nice service. Definitely worth a try!
The hot dogs are the best I have ever had! If I could give it more than 5 stars I would most definitely would. The owners are the best people as well! Please go try one the top 25 hot dog establishments in the America! 1# in Tennessee !
