Very quiet diner that’s a breath of fresh air from the constant advertising of fast food restaurants. We both enjoyed a very tasty club sandwich with a generous portion of fries to each. The nachos weren’t anything to write home about. Happy we stopped here on our way from Kansas to Colorado.

I’m just changing my thoughts since the cafe has been newly owned…

Bare walls, absolutely no decoration. No bulletin. No conversation. No people. Empty tables and chairs. (You get the point.) Anytime I’ve been there, I’ve been the only one there to get my little order to go. ( Even driving by, it’s empty.) No customers at the tables or anywhere for that matter.

Menu prices are on the high side…

I really wish I would have taken a picture of what we got for today. (Sorry, I didn’t have the time. If I go back, I’ll try to get pictures.)

The burgers are pretty expensive and quite flat and dry. To bland, or to salty. (If you want cheese, you HAVE to ask for it, but if you want to know there’s cheese on it, you’ll want maybe at least 3 slices. Automatic toppings include lettuce, tomato, pickle, and onion. The amount of each topping varies from time to time. (Too much or very little.) It would be best to mention how much of what toppings you want. You can ask for the toppings on the side, whether you’re dining in or carrying out. Condiment is ketchup. One burger may fill a child.

It’s the same every time I have gone there. I place my order. I pay. I get asked if I want a receipt. Sometimes I will get an “OK, thank you. I’ll be right back.” I say thank you and go about my day.

I promise you I’m not trying to dog on these people who now own this restaurant, but they could really use a lot of changes. “Live and learn.”

(I had what my thoughts were from the previous owners, but it was quite long, and that’s not the information that people need or want now. (So, this is as of May 30, 2025)

This is a very cute little bakery place! The food was pretty good, the walls are pretty empty and it was pretty hot inside (Like they didn’t have AC) they close at 2 but, definitely worth popping in

Very cute, small, family-friendly food spot. The menus are on two separate walls, so I didn’t realize they had a good breakfast menu until I realized they had a second spot for their menus on the wall to the left after walking in. I ended up getting the breakfast burrito and one of their cinnamon pastries. Both were delicious, the burrito is a decent size but I like to eat so in the end I wished I got myself two burritos . It might need a little salt and hot sauce, but both items are located on the tables if you dine in. The cinnamon pastry reminded me of a palmier, but I think they called it a cinnamon crispy (I could be wrong on their name). Other than that, they seem to be a small (maybe family owned) business. So the hostess was helping out in the back and it took some time before she came back to the front and took our order. The food came out in a very reasonable amount of time, we ordered some water for breakfast and I think that took the longest to get to the table. Overall, if you’re looking for a bite to eat while passing through or staying for a weekend and this place is open I definitely recommend stopping by for a bite to eat. I’ll have to try something not on the breakfast menu the next time I pass through to visit family.

My daughter and I and a coworker ate her April 27,2021. We ordered the chicken fried steak special and the 2 piece fried chicken breast platter. Truthfully the best food in town. Great portions and order order was taken by the sweetest girl. Her mom and grandma run the cafe. Homemade food. Fresh and the place is clean. Check it out if you are in the area.

Small down home cafe that has more seating than it appears. the special today was chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, green beans, with a biscuit. All for $13.00.

The food was excellent. the chicken fried steak had a very flavorful coating. Potatoes and biscuits are home made, and delicious.

It’s a shame, there’s a sign on the bulletin board that it is for sale, but they keep it going as usual until it is sold. Better come in soon.

Drove through on our way to Durango, CO and thought we would stop to eat. This place was awesome! I had the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and green beans and loved it. The coconut cream pie was homemade and the best I’ve ever had. Everyone there was so friendly!

Stopped there on our way to Colorado. The fried chicken was spot on. Delicious. Never had white gravy on mashed potatoes before, but now I’m a big fan. We sat outside since we had our little dog along. Had some interesting conversations with some local residents, 5 and 7 year old boys enjoying a malt.

Three food and portion sizes were wonderful.
I “sampled” their cinnamon rolls – YUM; chicken fried steak – great, crunchy coating with tender meat; fresh green beans and biscuits on the side – “just like Grandma use to make;” and Cherry pie for dessert.
It’s not a full service restaurant; but certainly worth the stop, if you’re in/near Cheyenne Wells.
