Ribs, shrimp & grits plus other Southern staples served in neo-rustic waterfront digs with a patio.

This restaurant is really nice and good!
The decoration inside the restaurant is everything I love. It’s an old industrial style from London. I really, really like it! But we sat on the terrace because it was super warm, and the outside is also super nice. I would even say cute 🙂
The food was excellent; I don’t have anything negative to say. My wife also loved it, so it was perfect! We waited a little bit for the fried chicken, but it was indicated on the menu that they need time to prepare it.
Portion was generous, so now we have some left over!
All the staff were very nice to us. They came to check on us during the wait and apologized, so that’s honestly a very good point! The service was great.
I will definitely come back!

We recently dined at Due South in Washington, D.C., and unfortunately, our experience left us underwhelmed. While the food selections were diverse and our waiter was helpful, the flavor profiles of the dishes fell short. Everything we tried was disappointingly bland, lacking the vibrant tastes we had hoped for.
Our visit was inspired by a gift card we purchased at a charity event, and we were pleased to support a good cause. However, given our experience, we find it unlikely that we will return soon.
On a positive note, the atmosphere and location of Due South are definite highlights. The decor is appealing, creating a warm and inviting environment. The outdoor seating offers pleasant views of the water, adding a scenic touch to the dining experience.
A consistent downside is the parking situation. Finding a spot can be challenging, and the costs can add up quickly, which detracts from the overall convenience.
In summary, while we appreciated the ambiance and the service at Due South, the blandness of the food was a significant letdown. It’s a place with potential, but we would need to hear about improvements in the kitchen before considering another visit.

Great location in view of the river. I came for happy hour, enjoy two glasses of the house white wine, Chicken sliders, and the corn and crab fritters. The service was surprisingly slow, considering it was less than five people in the restaurant, but sometimes it be like that. I’d recommend coming for happy hour.

What a fantastic brunch spot!! Very busy atmosphere but not hectic or chaotic. Good busy, I suppose. The service was great. Our server was attentive and personable even with a party of 12 on a busy Saturday brunch rush. We absolutely enjoyed everything we ordered. Probably one of the best biscuits and chicken and waffles we’ve had in this area. The chicken was well seasoned and cooked to perfection. The biscuits just melts in your mouth. It was warm crusty outside and soft and fluffy inside. Oh, and their Bloody Mary was on point!! Was not expecting pickled okra as a garnish but great call on the okra. Love, love, loved it!!

I visited this place for the first time with a group celebrating a friends birthday at Brunch. Our server Mike was great, as was his server in training Lee (Leigh) – and though we had to wait for refills on the bottomless mimosas at time, they more than made up for it by being attentive and providing great service.
So… Lets start with the good. The service is great, the bathroom is clean, and the mimosas are strong – sadly thats where my accolades end.
The food is ABYSMAL. Imagine opening a can you of wet cat food, sniffing it, and then mixing it with gravy and pouring it over a biscuit. That’s the vibe that the sausage gravy gave me, and yes it made my stomach tumble.
The chicken breasts were inconsistent across the table. The Chicken and Waffles chickens were all salty (as hell), while the Hot Fried Chicken chickens were completely under seasoned and the “Nashville Hot Sauce” won’t hot at all.
The collards tasted like vinegar, the eggs tasted as though they came from a carton, and the waffles were tough. ANDDDDDD I don’t know who told them that putting pickles and picked onions atop an egg was a good idea – but the madness must stop.
Overall – I’d come back here and sit at a table to have Mike bring me drinks. I loved the diversity in the staff, and that I never felt out of place in the restaurant.

First-time trying this restaurant for brunch. We all got the Hot Fried Chicken. It was very delicious! I usually pass on bread, but those biscuits are AMAZING! My son substituted the egg with sautéed spinch. The drinks were good too! The Shoo Fly Punch is really refreshing, the Spike Peach Tea is sweet but really, really good! I will be going back to check out the dinner menu. They have outdoor patio dining and it’s near the water, nice scenery and atmosphere.

Ambiance is nice, service was good considering it was busy. Food and flavors was off/not what I expected even the drinks weren’t that great. My cousins meal – the open faced chicken biscuit was hard/cooked improperly and the chef agreed to remake it but by then they’d run out of home fries. The veggie scramble I ordered lacked flavor and the side of hot sauce was more vinegar in flavor and did nothing to increase the flavor of the scramble. The home fries were good though a few of them were under cooked. My froze’ tasted like pure alcohol, no sweet quotient unlike the froze’ I’ve had other places. The crab and corn fritters were overcooked slightly and were “ok” in flavor. It’s a no for me, will not revisit.

If you like biscuits, this is a great place to have them. Saturday brunch was wonderful. Not an extensive menu, but it is very filling. Our server, Dewey was the best. Great views as well. Definitely going back.

The fried green tomatoes are the best I’ve ever had. The fried catfish was light, yet filling, and the shrimp and grits were hearty with good flavor.

Aside from our server, Due South was a very mediocre experience for me. I came on a Sunday with reservations for a party of 8. We made reservations about a week prior because our group was fairly large and we had 2 small children. When we called we said we had 2 small children and asked to not be at the high top. When we arrived, we were seated at a high top. We asked the hostess if we could be moved, since the table was too high for the kids and it was in our reservation notes. The hostess was noticeably unpleasant when we brought it to her attention. This was not the best start to the meal but I could’ve easily ignored it if the food were better. Our server was awesome and really attentive. We started with Brussels sprouts and they were honestly the best dish anyone ordered. We looked at the menu prior to coming and knew what we wanted but the menu was entirely different when we came in, which was disappointing. The server said that it’s common that people come in expecting the online menu but many of those menu options weren’t available. I feel like the easy solution would be to update the menu…but okay. I ordered the special, which was a blackened salmon served with okra. The okra was definitely not fully cooked. The salmon was a little over cooked. I found myself eating the food more so because I paid for it rather than really having enjoyed it. Others in my group enjoyed the dry rubbed chicken. Nobody was really satisfied. The food quality is just not good. The side dishes were bland and just hella cheap tasting. Overall, it was really disappointing. The service at the table was this places saving grace. Hopefully some changes are made to the menu because it has potential to be a cool spot.
