Dad got the open faced pot roast, Mama got the grilled chicken salad and the babies got chicken tenders. This hit the spot for local fare! Such a sweet atmosphere and great service. Dining with three kiddos is overwhelming sometimes but we are respectful, they made us feel right at home!

This place is still amazing and still serving up great meals at a good price.
I loved this place. One of the top spots for good southern home cooking. I will definitely check this place out again the next time I am in town. Amazing food and great atmosphere with the best mash potatoes I think I’ve ever had.

If you are looking for a meal that tastes like your grandma just cooked it…this is the place! Hands down best Fried Green Tomatoes I’ve ever had in my life! The meat loaf, open faced roast beef, and country ham hot brown we’re all fantastic! The service was wonderful! We were there on vacation celebrating my mother’s 60th birthday and they even gave her a giant “It’s my Birthday” pin to wear. The boutique above the restaurant is adorable! If you are up for a one of a kind unique dining experience, this is just the place! Thank you for the experience…with love from Black Cashmere and Honey Buttered Rolls!

I read that they have gluten-free options however that was not the case unless you want a salad. I ordered a hamburger without the bun and it was overcooked. I was told that their fries did not have a coating on them but when they arrived they did. The waitress did apologize and swap it out for a salad which was good. My boyfriend ordered the ham meal and the ham was very thin and super super tough. He did enjoy the sides of mashed potatoes and gravy and carrots. The waitress was super good and attentive. But it was upsetting to me that the cook did not know their own menus. I would not recommend this place for people who cannot do steps. The parking was quite tight with only 12 spots available. They had a nice variety of items on sale and a boutique upstairs that if it offered a few extra large sizes I would have likely got something.

Saw a few social media reviews and decided to give back home another try. It has been at least 6 years since we had eaten here and we found the experience very average….hence the 6 year hiatus. Well let’s just say we were underwhelmed with everything. We were seated in a crowded area (even after requesting a different table and were told this was the only available table and there were 15 open tables we walked past) our food was ok. I had the hot brown and added side of pinto beans . The hot brown was above average the beans were good too. Solid B. My wife has the meatloaf, hashbrown casserole, broccoli casserole and a bowl of green beans . All of her sides were cold. The flavor was lacking seasoning. We finished the meal with the peach cobbler and ice cream which was solid another B. Overall I would give the food a big fat C. Mid to mediocre at best.

The food and setting are amazing. Our server completely ingnored us. We sat next to a table that was checked on and received excellant service , we didnt. We were the only table left and she never came back once we received our food, we sat there for waiting until my husband went to the front and asked for a to go box and paid. He left the tip for the lady at the front counter.

Built in 1877, this restaurant is a must try! I only wish the Boutique upstairs was open!
My husband had the Roast Beef Sandwich and added bacon- couldn’t stop raving about it! The cook popped out and asked how he liked it because no one had ever asked for it this way before!
The Peach Bourbon Tea was also so good! I can only imagine how refreshing this would be in the summer! (We visited in February).
Restaurant was clean and our waitress was a gem! Give Back Home a try!

Back Home Restaurant offers a delightful taste of Kentucky with their flavorful dishes. Very happy we made a stop here. The service was impeccable, adding to the overall dining experience. The honey chicken Mac and cheese was a standout dish, perfectly blending sweet and savory flavors. Loved the green fried tomatoes! The cozy atmosphere made it a memorable dining destination for my family. Highly recommended for anyone craving comforting Southern cuisine with a touch of excellence.

Drove up from Nashville in route to Bardstown and stopped by on a whim for lunch, and so glad we did! The food was absolutely flawless and the service was outstanding. We shared the hot brown, the honey chicken and Mac and cheese, and then had the peach cobbler and coalminers cake for dessert. Here are pics of everything: they speak for themselves.
