First time visiting this place and we were not disappointed. The burnt ends appetizer was so good. We shared the Chuck Norris with a basket of seasoned fries and it was excellent. Will definitely stop here again when we’re back in the area.

This place has excellent food. It’s a no brainer when in that area. The food was hot and cooked to perfection. The only thing I would say is the ribs were not fall off the bone.. but the flavor was amazing and the mac n cheese is more like mostaccioli. They made up for it with the potato salad and fresh brewed tea. The vibes and decor was engaging and the place is so much bigger than it look from the outside. Cool spot for sure, will be back

Still haven’t found a wood burning BBQ place here in Illinois. But the place is ok and the service was very good. The deco is all 70’s and 80’s toys, poster, and games. They have a great selection of Bourbon in their package department. A game room with pinball machines and old arcades.

I gotta tell you, this place was good. I rarely eat meat, and I mean almost never, and since this is a BBQ joint. I had the pork nachos. The meat was super tender and had a nice flavor to it. My husband loved The Steve sandwich. If you love BBQ, it is worth the drive. And the decorations are fun.

It has an excellent location down the main drag. Handicap parking is available right in front of the main door with inclined access.

Very causal with chairs and tables or picnic benches to sit on. Lots and lots of collectibles on every wall, large and small.
Good taste and quality:
This is a summary of the food from folks in our party. We ordered the BBQ Sundae. It is something I would recommend for everyone to try if they truly enjoy pulled pork. The individual flavors in the sundae were outstanding. The core slaw was flavorful, the beans were balanced and not too sweet. The pulled pork was moist, tender and incredibly perfect.
Both of the sauces were very good and complemented the mattress perfectly.
I personally came for the beef brisket, so I ordered it without any sides. Unfortunately, the beef was very dry and had an okay flavor. Their fries had a very off flavor and are something I would not order again.
If you’re searching for excellent pulled pork you must stop here. If beef brisket is your joy, I’d search elsewhere.
The Reuben had coleslaw instead of sauerkraut and was very delicious. The bread was crispy, not soggy, and the corned beef tender and flavorful.

We stopped in for lunch one day while our son attended his Riverside Club. My husband ordered a brisket sandwich and kept commenting on how good the brisket was. I had a smoked chicken salad and it was also amazing! We tried the Badass Brat Sauce and it was great on the sandwich and the salad! Sierra was our friendly host and waitress. We hope to be back soon!

South Moon BBQ is one of our favorite local spots. The food is consistently really, really good, and it’s an easy go-to when we want a solid meal without making it a whole production.
A couple small wishes: I’d love the option to buy brisket by the pounds, and the burnt ends (their “candy bacon”) can sell out pretty early, which is a little disappointing when you show up craving it.
That said, it’s still a great place. The kids love the arcade machine, and the bourbon selection is honestly impressive for a local spot. Definitely worth a visit, and worth repeating.
