The atmosphere is elegant yet relaxed, and the service was attentive and professional throughout the evening. Special thanks to our waiter, Ahmet, who made the experience even better with his friendliness, knowledge, and great recommendations.
Whether you’re an oyster lover or just looking for a refined dining experience, this place absolutely delivers. Easily a five-star spot — I’ll definitely be coming back.
The appetizers we ordered were the beet salad and Crudo plate; both being delicious with good portion size for the price. The roasted Pepitas on the beet salad were a nice crunchy surprise.
The main entrees of scallops and linguini with clams were both really good. The amount of clams with the rich cream sauce were very good.
We ordered the cocholate cake bread pudding for desert. The pumpkin ice scream addition was a nice surprise along with roasted pepitas. We shared one ordered and it was enough. The desert wasn’t too sweet and appealed to a nice winter January palate that we were looking for.
Our plates were cleared in a timely manner and we never felt rush to leave when we finished our meal. There was standing room only when we left.
I would return to this location. It was a pleasurable experience with a lively atmosphere. The bar scene looked inviting with no chair unfilled. This location is a treat in the downtown Menlo Park/Santa Cruz Ave area.
You can come here for a special occasion or casually. My photos don’t do justice for the quality and presentation of the meal.
For starters, they bring out yummy fresh sourdough bread with whipped butter and coarse salt on the side. Not overly sour. Good soft texture with a slight chewy to it. Bread is complimentary.
Also had the Dungeness Crab Omelette, Buttermilk Pancakes, New England Clam Chowder and Basque Cake for dessert.
Pancakes were yummy. Definitely had buttermilk in the perfect amount.
Clam Chowder was good too. Not too clammy with very tasty soup.
Fresh lumps of crab folded inside the omelette. Accompanied by crispy roasted baby potatoes with what tasted like tomato bell pepper sauce that’s similarly prepared to a chimichurri sauce.
The Burnt Honey Ice Cream came with the Basque Cake. Cake was mildly sweetened. Most of the sweetess was from the ice cream that tasted like toffee.
Nice relaxed ambiance in a bright dining room. Nice friendly staff. Pricey but they definitely paid attention to details and had good quality ingredients.
The food is cooked with such care that you can taste the pride on the plate. The fish? Perfectly crispy on one side and beautifully glistening on the other. The crab omelette? Packed with so much crab it feels like a luxury, and the potato side is one of those things you keep thinking about long after the meal is over.
Oysters are my love language, and the Miyagi here is my favorite—sweet, fresh, and just chef’s kiss.
Service is excellent across the board: warm, attentive, and exactly the kind that makes a great meal even better.
We’ll be back for a fourth visit… probably sooner than we should admit.
Best ever service from Edwardo who brought me two wines to taste when I said I didn’t recognize any of the wines on the list of whites by the glass. Loved one. He was attentive and helpful with recommendations and had the apple garnish put on the side for our dessert because I said I was allergic to green apples.
Place was packed Thursday evening and buzzing with happy people and a lot of attentive servers. Just a bit loud to talk across the table to hear each other.
Highly recommend!
They nailed the decor with an expansive bar seating area, plentiful tables, high ceiling and a memorable clear fish tank like the Austin location. They also have outdoor seating like the Austin location that is very popular.
We were seated shortly after arrival for lunch and the restaurant was about 1/3 full having recently open and on a weekday.
Our server took our order and the complimentary sour dough bread came. It’s absolutely delicious and the simple radish, sea salt and butter are the perfect complement.
Although I’m watching carbs, I soon found myself finishing the whole thing because it was that good but also because after ordering, the wait was longer than expected (~35 minutes).
I’m guessing it’s opening kinks as they’ll have to speed up if it gets busier or to get the work crowd back in time for their 1 hour lunch.
Our main order were the oysters and we went with the recommendation of all East Coast ones at $4.50, highlighted by Pink Moon and the St. Simon. The oyster shucker may have not been the fastest but the quality and flavor for our dozen oysters was excellent. This area doesn’t have many oyster options anymore so Clark’s already sets the bar.
Next, we had the chowder and while it’s a bit light on clams, I loved the serving temp (very hot), plentiful celery and bacon, and hearty bacon.
Finally, we finished with both a lobster roll and a crab Louie salad. Both are pricey but were perfect for sharing and again temp was perfect (warm toasted lobster roll, cold lobster pieces, chilled lettuce for the salad).
Overall, despite the minor wait, we had great service with servers checking in multiple times, offering water refills and busing our dishes that we had finished.
Clark’s is a seafood and oyster bar that the Peninsula really lacks and while the prices are higher, the quality is better; it’s more polished and authentic than Restoration Hardware, the old Scott’s Seafood, or nearby Cook’s.
Welcome to Menlo Park! It’s been tough with establishments closing in downtown MP, but Clark’s is a welcome addition.
Clark’s accepts reservations but walk-ins are accepted. Dining is available indoor and outdoor and all credit cards are accepted.
First time there. We ordered mussels and clams, crab omelette and lobster rolls. Food quality is no doubt, fresh and delicious. But the environment is definitely loud and price is high. With that high price, usually we expected higher quality of environment and atmosphere.
I believe some sound prove system might help a lot of decrease the loudness. Pricy but delicious. It was our first time there. We ordered mussels and clams, a crab omelette, and lobster rolls. The food quality is undoubtedly fresh and delicious. However, the environment is quite loud and the prices are quite high. Considering the high prices, we usually expect a higher quality of environment and atmosphere. I believe installing some soundproofing systems could significantly reduce the noise level.
Interesting style of French fries! Kids like it.
