The batter fried fish was good-flaky not greasy. The broiled was served with a gray tint so a bit raw-which we returned-same plate was returned to us (entire plate was hot so the potato was probably microwaved before sending it back out to us). The broiled was returned to us cooked but it wasnt seasoned nor buttered much so it was bland.
The soup was also very bland, You couldn’t tell it was clam chowder by the taste.
The salad bar was set up very unprofessionally with the pans just sitting on ice.-There were no bars to put the salad bar together, so it just kind of looked thrown together.
I ordered my potato “loaded” and ended up getting charged an additional 4 line items resulting in $4 total extra (including a $.50 upcharge for onions on my potato that I clearly did not order-nor receive).
It would have been nice if butter was actually placed in the potato or to have been given a soufflé cup of butter for the baked potato versus the very small butter packages that were on the table (4 packets equals 1 soufflé cup).
Also, a bread option for the dinner was noticeably missing-at least 1 dinner roll would have been nice-or to at least have some on the salad bar…
Bar staff was awesome fast and attentive-although I did have to ask for the (cherry) garnish for my $6 7&7…..
The wait staff was nice, also attentive-just not about the itemized bill charges…
it’s a lacrosse staple, but the food has lost a step…

First time in after the change in ownership. Wasn’t impressed then, same can be said for now. Our cheese curds were definitely the highlight of the meal. My patty melt…..was grilled nicely. Otherwise the burger patty had no flavor, and the texture was terrible. Fries were nice and crisp though. The wall our booth butted up to was heavily flecked with previous guests food/beverage, who knows for how long. I had high hopes for some improvement over the former operators, but I guess not.

Label me as impressed! The food, service and atmosphere were all excellent. Went for lunch and had the Prime Philly Cheesesteak sandwich and fries, wife had the fish and salad bar. Our waitress, Sasha, was awesome! Very pleasant and speedy with drinks, food and refills. Thank you Schmidty’s!

I love Schmidty’s and I’ll be back, our last visit there was a little lack luster. Salad bar was solid and delicious but our meal was not up to their previous standards. Our server seemed very disinterested… but satisfactory. My steak was ordered medium-rare but came out medium and over seared, and without seasoning or flavor. This is NOT normal for Schmidty’s, and we will absolutely go back, but when I give a review, I want to be 100% honest. As a side note, I NEVER accept any offers or gratuities after I leave a review. I just leave honest reviews.

We had a fabulous experience on a Saturday night while in the La Crosse area visiting our son. The steaks were phenomenal. I had the Jameson whiskey filet and my husband had the queen cut prime rib. They were both perfectly cooked to medium rare, cut like butter, and were seasoned nicely. The salad bar was ok- maybe a little sparse but very fresh. The chicken dumpling soup was to die for. Our younger son had the cheeseburger and even that was great and they still cook to order (medium rare)!! Yay! We will definitely be back. Karissa was our server and she was fantastic. What a friendly, caring, and attentive young lady! Do not take her for granted; you’ve got a gem in her. Our food could have stunk and we’d still give 5 stars for her genuine, heartfelt service!! See you soon, we hope!!

This is the first time I’ve ever been disappointed by the food at Schmidty’s. I ordered the Chicken Alfredo. The Alfredo sauce was very bland – it was basically just cream with cheese sprinkled over the top. Not a huge deal. But the chicken was rock hard. It was inedible.

Have been to Schmidty’s before and always had a great meal for a good price. Salad Bar & Soup was terrific. Appetizers and entrees were OK at best. Very greasy and I don’t think oil had been changed in awhile. Service was slow but to give them the benefit of the doubt, there was a large party in the adjoining dining room.

I had the cod which was lightly breaded and delicious. The service was excellent. This is a hometown place, simple atmosphere, exceptional food at a reasonable price.
