We ate here on last Saturday. It was a party of 7 adults and a 4 yr old and 16 month old. Our chef did a great job entertaining us but especially the kids! Food was good.

10/10 – I found Midwest Tokyo: where chopsticks meet ranch-dressing energy, and I’m not even mad about it. We love this place and had a blast, but owe Japan an apology.

Came to “Tokyo” in Joplin fully expecting to walk into a quiet, minimalist slice of Japan…instead I walked straight into a full-on onion volcano, a shrimp-tossing Olympics, and a guy making beating-heart shapes out of fried rice. Our hibachi chef flipped utensils like he was auditioning for Food Network Ninja Warrior, called my buddy “Cowboy” the entire time, and turned a pile of zucchini into a comedy routine.

The experience was excellent. Talented hibachi chefs perform a flame touched artistic display that produces delicious food. The thoughtful decor paired with the fine dining experience is not one to miss. Aquariums inset into the walls, and cherry blossom branches used as light fixtures are just a few of the interior touches. The sushi options are equally elegant and flavorful. If you are in the area or just passing through, I highly recommend making a stop here for an amazing time.

We had a wonderful experience dining here after a sporting event. We were there late on a week day and the staff was very pleasant about us eating. Mario was super friendly and helpful. He was very patient with us, even though we were the last people there. The hibachi chef did an amazing job, and the food was fantastic. Thank you very much for a great experience, we look forward to being able to dine with you again.

My wife and I were invited via our daughter and boyfriend for my wife’s birthday dinner. The boyfriend had been to this Japanese Steakhouse multiple times and knew we would enjoy the food and the experience. I gotta say he was spot on.

We were seated immediately around a flat top that the Chef uses to prepare whatever meal the customer(s) ordered. You are in close proximity of other customers that are there to enjoy the same thing. But, unless you’re in a large group of those you know, like a family event or a work lunch/dinner event, one “might” feel uncomfortable sitting close to those you don’t know. For me and our family this is a non-issue. We can gab it up with strangers no problem. Around great food gabbing becomes easier.
Our service was quick. But I think our server wasn’t into this particular early evening visit. She wasn’t friendly but cordial. Almost as if she was more interested in leaving due to another priority. Her body language indicated as much. She did take care of needs around this relative large group of 8 folks, including me, my wife, daughter, and boyfriend. Thus the ding in service which was more about how she interacted.

Orders all taken. Our Chef, “Baby,” came out to prepare multiple meals. What a GREAT personality and genuine love of his craft. He made it enjoyable to be a part of as his enthusiasm was contagious. Videos are posted. The family getting the air time is the other family seated with all of us. They were the strangers that became a small part of this birthday dinner experience for my wife.

The Japanese food and the experience is first class. My daughter’s boyfriend made a great call. It was the first time here for my wife and myself. My daughter had been here once before with her boyfriend. Gotta say, we can’t wait to return just on a date night!

Thank you Tokyo Japanese Steak House for an epic menu selection and quality food. Thank you to our Chef Baby for a superb performance and at times memorizing. It was indeed an off-the-hook experience!

I’ve been coming here for a long time. went today, and it was the first time I’ve ever not taken a to go box they have really minimized the amount of noodles and food you get. 43 dollars for a ribeye meal and an order of egg rolls. I mean, the steak is amazing, but I should have more noodles and rice than steak. This was the plate I got for the meal. The rice and noodles didn’t even cover the plate. For those prices, you shouldn’t be that stingy on rice and noodles. The server was good, and the chef was good. The seats in the back room are hard wood with no backing, so that room is a bit uncomfortable as well. It’s not a bad place to eat, but don’t expect to have a ton of food like most hibachi restaurants.

This is a pretty cool place. Lots of neat decorations to look at. Despite the building’s age, everything is clean and well kept inside. There are several large saltwater tanks full of beautiful fish. The Japanese themed decor is something different and pleasant to look at.The hibachi area is always entertaining as the chefs skillfully cook meals while you watch. The flashy, fiery spectacle of watching them work is something to behold.

The food selection and combinations available are pretty impressive. The sushi is delicious and looks great. The soups are amazing and very unique. The noodles weren’t the best but still better than most places I’ve been. So all in all, the food is great and everyone I saw looked pleased with their meal and service. I recommend trying this place out!

I normally don’t put bad reviews because I understand customer service, but our hibachi chef was one of the most inappropriate chefs I’ve ever seen. He made rape jokes ( Diddy jokes, baby oil jokes, etc ), and then proceeded to be racist towards asian people and saying the meat was dog or cat, which was not okay in the slightest. I will not be back unless he is no longer there. I was extremely uncomfortable with his “ humor “. I told a server and she knew who I was talking about. He needs to do better.
