A truly special place – perfect during the festival
I had the beef strip soup with jasmine tea, and the food was absolutely exceptional. Deep, comforting flavours, beautifully balanced and very nourishing – exactly what you want during a busy festival day.
The service was incredibly warm, friendly and attentive. You immediately feel welcome and well looked after. A wonderful place to pause, enjoy great food and soak in a lovely atmosphere. I will definitely come back.

During my two-day stay in Edinburgh, I was surprised to find a Vietnamese restaurant called Saigon. Being from Saigon myself, I couldn’t resist going in to try it.

At first, I felt a bit disappointed—the décor looked more Chinese than Vietnamese, and all the staff spoke Chinese. I started to worry about whether the food would be authentic.

But those worries quickly disappeared once the food arrived. The aroma from the broth was incredibly fragrant, and the taste was even better! My Bún Bò Huế was absolutely delicious, and my husband’s Phở was just as good.

The staff were very attentive, and during a short chat, we learned that the owner is Vietnamese with Chinese ancestry. Before we left, the owner even gave us a small gift—a lovely gesture that made our visit extra special.

A restaurant worth remembering and recommending to friends!

We were drawn in by how beautiful this place is and really enjoyed our food. The service was great and it had a lovely atmosphere with the beautiful lanterns hanging from the ceiling that was a perfect photo opp! The pho was amazing and could not recommend more for a lovely evening meal.

Sàigòn Mémoire is an interesting spot that, while described as a Vietnamese restaurant, feels more like a fusion concept. Many of the dishes had a creative twist, and they also included Chinese options on the menu, which added to the variety.

The taste was decent overall. We enjoyed the food, and there were some fun surprises in the presentation and flavors, though nothing stood out as particularly amazing.

Service could be better, especially in terms of attentiveness. We had to get the staff’s attention a few times, which took away slightly from the experience. If you’re in the mood for something different with a mix of Vietnamese and Chinese influences, it’s worth a visit. Just don’t expect traditional flavors across the board.

Saw some post on social media that they finally have some decent traditional chinese food. the biggest disappointment ever! just had the most expensive roast duck in this world costing £75!!! I would expect it to be fresh and delicious for this price tag unfortunately the dish was absolutely awful. it was like it had been cooked the night before and had been left there for ages the meat shrinked. everything else is way overpriced. my 3 star service is only to go to one of the staff who did almost the work. the other 2 asian staffs were chatting at the bar most of the time and on their mobile phones. definitely won’t be back again.

Sat in with my friend all afternoon. Food was amazing, service was fabulous. It was very quiet at the time. Got the meal for 2 and it was just so much food we couldn’t actually finish it all but not for the lac kof trying.

Was a bit reluctant to go in because it’s on the main tourist street, but the reviews were good. So glad I went, the noodles were amazing. Probably best noodles I’ve ever had.
