This was truly an incredible experience. I had been informed that it would be a dressy occasion during the Mardi Gras season and we were able to secure a in demand lunch reservation. I was thoroughly impressed by the decor and the wait staff was very attentive. I enjoyed everything from start to finish, beginning with the delicious bread. I opted for a salad and my date had the turtle soup. The salad was filling with the prosciutto and accompanying toasted bread. The soup came highly recommended and I had a sip and it was full of flavor. From there, the Des Allemands Catfish was very crunchy on the outside yet light and flaky inside. It was perfectly paired with the potato salad and the Herbsaint coulis was impeccably done. The crème brûlée was presented beautifully and had me wanting for more. Lastly, I was able to partake in all the lunch martinis. They were equally enjoyable. Overall, I’m very pleased and cannot wait for another chance to experience dining here!

The meal here was outstanding. We had the Creole Gumbo, followed by the Pecan Crusted Fish and Sticky Date and Root Beer Glazed Double Cut Pork Chop. The Creole Bread Pudding Soufflé topped off our meal. Its delivery and presentation, in addition to its plain deliciousness, are worth noting–it was finished at our table and topped with a whiskey cream sauce. The flavors throughout our dinners were subtle and complementary. The portions were generous, with the pork chop serving being very large.

The dining room has a timeless, traditional feel that incorporates elegance into an atmosphere that is still relaxing and comfortable. Our servers were attentive, engaging, and fun. This restaurant has been on my bucket list for nearly 10 years, and it was well worth the wait. Looking forward to another visit.

We ate lunch on 2/4/26 and were served by Joe, Rebecca and Lanai. The service was absolutely impeccable, and they preempted our requests before we even had the chance to ask. Additionally, Joe went above and beyond and gave us suggestions on things to do while we were visiting New Orleans. We had Shrimp & Tasso Henican, Creole Gumbo, Curry Spiced Wild White Shrimp and the Classic Creole Luncheon. Absolutely everything was perfect, and two weeks later we’re still raving about the food and service we received. 10/10 service, atmosphere, and food. We’ll be back and we highly recommend this restaurant to everyone.

Not fine dining – this was a major disappointment. For how seriously this restaurant takes itself, the food does not come close to measuring up.

Notable duds include: starting crostinis (stale and oily) and the lamb prosciutto chopped salad which was underdressed and equivalent to what you might find at an Applebees.

Red fish and Pecan crusted mystery fish (they don’t specify the type) were aggressively mediocre. Turtle soup wasn’t my cup of tea, but it at least had some flavor other than salt. Bread pudding was the best thing we ate, although it was a bit sweet for my taste.

Overall, the food reminded me of a Hilton wedding buffet. Mediocre – and certainly not matching their want to be upscale vibe. I’m also not sure their glassware is real – almost thought it was plastic at first. The cutlery wasn’t the quality you’d expect either.

The one redeeming light was the service – everyone we encountered was professional and friendly. Although I was surprised they didn’t clean the table between courses.

If you want to go somewhere fancy and food taste is not a priority, this is an option. But there is certainly better food in New Orleans, especially at this price point.

So glad we made a reservation for our New Year’s eve lunch! Do yourself a favor by dressing up. Service by Nash and team was impeccable. They took such good care of our every need.
We started off with their 25¢ martinis and were surprised by how well-made they were! We sampled the range of varieties they have and all agreed that the best was still the dirty gin martini.

I liked that the menu was all on one page. No endless scrolling through pages and pages. They’re famous for their turtle soup so of course we had to try it. It was very delicately prepared. It did NOT have parts of turtle floating around in it, as we imagined!
Some of us had the beef cheeks (so tender!), the others had the cochon dish (highly elevated carnitas taco), my favorite was the chicken leg confit which was an explosion of flavor! Don’t skip the desserts too!

It’s an experience. You understand southern hospitality when you visit Commander’s Palace and get treated like royalty. Every guest is special. Extremely polite and friendly, welcoming team of professionals at this establishment. Yes, the food is great but the service makes it taste better. The synchronized Michelin star table service is quite appreciates. One server per person per course come at the same time and with a smile, our plates are set in front of us at the same time. Splendid! It has to be experienced. The jazzy brunch is well done with experienced musicians that will play by your table what you may request or their own interpretations. Delightful and so friendly too! Reserve and go. It’s a treat that every one deserves!

Absolutely amazing lunch and service! The price is unbeatable for the quality and generous portions. Only $25 for a soup or salad and a main course. During lunch, they also have a martini special for just $0.25 each (and they are strong!). We tried the turtle soup and the gumbo, followed by the chicken and the pork. Everything was outstanding. The strawberry shortcake was the perfect ending. I will definitely come back on my next visit!

Commander’s Palace is one of those rare places where the experience begins before you even sit down , and somehow keeps getting better from there.

From the moment you walk in, the service sets the tone. The entry desk staff are welcoming, polished, and genuinely warm. We were seated immediately, and one of the most memorable touches happened right away , we were guided through the kitchen on the way to our table. Watching the team in action added a special behind-the-scenes charm that I’ve never experienced at a restaurant before. Even the doors are thoughtfully marked “Yes” and “No” depending on which side you should use , a small detail, but very memorable.

Our drink server, Simba, truly made the evening special. We were celebrating our son’s birthday, and he made sure the night felt personal and joyful from start to finish. Our son received a kids’ mocktail with a little duck decoration , pink, fun, and absolutely adorable. I enjoyed a glass of Prosecco while we settled in.
We started with the chicken and sausage gumbo and the famous turtle soup — both rich, comforting, and full of classic Creole flavor. One of the coolest parts of the dining experience is how the food is served: three staff members arrive together and place the dishes on the table in perfect synchronization. It feels theatrical in the best possible way.
For the main course, I had the pecan-crusted fish, which was delicious and perfectly prepared. My wife ordered the short-rib ravioli, which was equally impressive , flavorful, comforting, and beautifully presented.

The birthday celebration was another highlight. The team brought out a chef’s hat and ice cream for our son, making him feel like the star of the evening. Moments like that are what make a restaurant truly memorable.

The ambiance feels classic and timeless. The dining room had a relaxed, elegant crowd , families celebrating together, couples enjoying dinner, and even grandparents with grandkids. It felt like dining inside a New Orleans institution, which Commander’s clearly is.

Even the staff outside, who greeted us when our Uber dropped us off, knew exactly where to position us for photos so the iconic Commander’s sign appeared perfectly in the background. That level of care says everything about the place.

With thousands of reviews, Commander’s Palace absolutely lives up to its reputation. The service is exceptional, the food is wonderful, and the experience feels legendary from beginning to end.

If you’re visiting New Orleans, make the reservation. Commander’s Palace is not just dinner , it’s an experience you’ll remember

Excellent service, beautiful ambiance, and great food. We got gumbo, turtle soup (with andouille sausage), pecan crusted fish, strawberry shortcake, and the souffle bread pudding.

I couldn’t have alcohol during the time of visit and so I was pleased to find out they had alternatives/accommodations for the whiskey cream of the bread pudding and we just opted to not add the splash of sherry to the turtle soup.

It was a great dining experience although I’d have to say the highlight of my visit were the desserts. I found the fish a little too salty for my liking (pecan was nicely done however) and the gumbo was decent but not too unique to this place. I wasn’t able to take photos but they have delicious table garlic bread, and the soup came with a mini light baguette that was such a delightful pair to the soup.

You were so lucky to get the same day lunch reservation ! I left my lunch at Commander Palace and it was very amazing and very memorable. It was my first time dining there and the service was so attentive. I liked it a lot. The food was amazing for my salad I got the Brûléed Apple & Fennel Salad and for my entree Crispy Confit Chicken Leg Quarter. It was some of the best chicken I’ve ever had and the sauce was amazing. It was very sweet and savory. The Russell sprouts were also on point and I usually don’t eat them. Our servers were so attentive and it was so decorated nicely for the holidays I will definitely be back soon!!
