Returned for dinner after some time and loved everything about our experience-. The service was impeccable. The soup, appetizer and main course were all delicious. Perfect for this cold weather. And the decor of this cozy restaurant is quite inviting.
We decided to try Chopsticks Three again after quite a long time, hoping to have the same good experience we remembered from before. Unfortunately, this visit was quite disappointing. The prices seemed higher than expected, which would have been fine if the food quality matched, but sadly it didn’t.
We ordered several items — the soya chunks, garlic noodles, and Manchow soup. The soya chunks were far too sour, to the point that it overpowered the dish and made it unpleasant to eat. The garlic noodles tasted plain and lacked the strong, aromatic flavor you would normally expect from a garlic-based dish. It felt like the seasoning was either missing or very minimal, which made it quite underwhelming.
The only saving grace of the meal was the Manchow soup. It was flavorful, well-balanced, and had that nice spicy kick that made it comforting and delicious. If the rest of the dishes had been of the same quality as the soup, our experience would have been completely different.
Overall, we left disappointed. For the price, we expected better flavor and consistency. I hope the restaurant takes note of the feedback
Dining in was so nice too! The owner was a pleasure to speak with and taught us about how she prepares the food, what spices and foods pair well together, and just friendly chit chat about the area.
We drove from Delaware on our way to NYC to try this place before their 9:30 PM closing. We arrived before 9 PM, the restaurant was completely empty, and it was freezing inside — no heat, just a portable heater (it was 27° outside). That should’ve been our first red flag.
Service was disorganized and unprofessional. The first staff member we spoke to didn’t even seem to know the menu. When we asked for recommendations, we were rushed through almost every item with zero effort to actually guide us. If dining in close to closing was an issue, we could have easily been told and would’ve done takeout.
The food did not justify the hype or the price. The Drums of Heaven were decent but only four pieces. The Schezwan chicken fried rice was mostly plain rice with barely any chicken and nothing memorable about it.
Then the bill came — nearly $50 for two basic dishes, with an automatic 15% gratuity included. For an empty, cold restaurant with rushed, inattentive service? Completely unjustified.
This place is clearly surviving off past reputation. Save your time and money.
