Car trouble on a road trip found my husband and I stopped in Perry for emergency service. A quick Google search for a well reviewed lunch spot found us The Oil Lamp Restaurant. Oh my goodness! That was 3 days ago and we’re still talking about how wonderfully delighted we were to have a delicious hot lunch with the best service one can only imagine!!! Our trays were taken for us without asking to our table!! I believe because my cane indicated the need for assistance. How refreshing that the staff even took time to notice! The food was beyond exceptional. My granny couldn’t have made it any better! Fresh vegetables cooked to perfection; no over cooked butter beans or squash here!! Gravy covered mashed potatoes that were out of this world along with meatloaf and beef roast, green beans… all were absolutely delicious!!! Corn muffins were so good, we wanted to take home a dozen!
I can not wait for our next road trip because we are timing it for a stop at The Oil Lamp Restaurant again, you can bet on it!!! Definitely recommended!! 5 stars across the board!

I had the stake very tender packed with flavor a little too salty the salad portion is so small I was told to get the fries or baked potato disappointing very clean and super friendly. I will definitely return but hold the salt. The stake covered the ENTIRE PLATE!!! Watch out Longhorn.

Nice Mom and Pop place. Generous portions. Roast, potatoes and gravy, cornbread and tea were a very satisfying meal. Big selection of desserts but I’m cutting back; they looked so good.
Debbie was the kindest, most attentive waitress and I didn’t want for anything. I’ll be stopping here again.

First timers dropping in while heading home to TN. As soon as we walked in the ladies up front instantly knew we were not from there and very kindly directed us towards the buffet line. The fried chicken was crispy, the sweet tea was the perfect amount of sweetness, & the greens were seasoned with plenty of love. Great stop and will definitely be stopping back in on my next trip down.

This is the best restaurant I have been to in many years. This place has some of the best food that you ever ate. It’s like going to grandmas for Sunday dinner after church. The portions are huge and the service is like someone from your family is there try to make you feel at home. This was my first time here but definitely will

My wife and I stopped here on our way home to Florida from Marietta GA. We were looking for something that wasn’t fast food and open late, we found Oil Lamp, and we’re glad we did. My wife got the rib eye special with a side of mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, and corn bread. The sides were very good and the steak was cooked to order. It was a little salty, but it was tender, juicy and delicious. I had the fried catfish with fried okra and cheese grits. The catfish was crispy and flaky and not fishy at all. The sides were fantastic. Overall, a definite repeat next time we’re passing through!!

We have missed this hidden gem for years. Just minutes from the fairgrounds. We went an hour before the rodeo. We walked in to a line of about 20 people ahead of us. No problem. Breezed right through. The good was delicious. A good selection! They featured a Hugh steak that night. It was more than we wanted but looked great. I’m guessing next time we are in Perry, we will drive past CB to go to the Oil Lamp.

The Oil Lamp is something I still talk about years after visiting. They refurbed the place big time! Hope the food is still good and didn’t change like a certain national chain serving country food. Very well pleased with the service and food. Just remember it’s on 41 and you’ll do good.

I waited 300 miles all day to have some southern cooking and The Oil Lamp served it up right!
It’s cafeteria style and being a Yankee I was overwhelmed with the choices. I went with the fried chicken, mashed potatoes, stuffing, turnips, black eyed peas, and pecan pie. It was all really good. And the price was about what you’d pay for dinner somewhere else. The young ladies running the counter and serving the tables were very pleasant and helpful!
We were driving to Florida from Indiana and I found this on the map. Glad we made the choice to stop.

Good ole southern down home cooking at its best. The Oil Lamp Restaurant has been around long enough that the citizens of Perry consider this an institution, a main stay of the community.
The setup is buffet style. You go through the serving line, make your selections and you pay at the end of the line. Then, find a table and get ready to enjoy a delicious meal.
Plenty of parking.
